So the time has come to pick out my setting. It will be a solitaire, 18k white gold probably around 3mm thick, not sure yet. I want to have the sides engraved with a design like this ring below:

(apologies to 'iwannaprettyone' for stealing your pic, but I LOVE your ring.)

Does anyone else have a ring like this they could show me? I'm looking for ideas!

Her ring is gorgeous I agree.  Here is a thread about her ring where it is from.  I think she said A. Jaffe http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=67371

Hmm unfortunately I don't have the cash to buy a designer ring, so I'm going to have one made by a local B&M here. But thanks for the pointer.

You should check out Greenlake Jewelry. I have been in contact with them and their prices are extremely reasonable for the qualty of their work (maybe $1100 - $1300 for something like you pictured, I got a quote on something very similar). They do their engraving by hand, their customer service is amazing, and they will insure YOUR stone, purchased eslewhere, while they work with it!

Does anyone know how I could find a place around here that does work like that? I searched for "engravers" in my area on google maps, but didn't find much other than trophies and engraved gifts. I live near the city, but unfortunately I can't get there so easily to meet with anyone. I went into a nice little local B&M here, and they said they could duplicate anything, but I don't know enough to determine their level of skill when it comes to engraving. I guess I'll bring them some pictures of things I like, and see what they think.

Hmmm, well I know you do not have much time, so I hesitate to give you these guys information to then find out that it won't be done in time. Also I don't know your budget constraints. However I just finished my engagement ring and proposal (She acccepted, Whew). I had a custom designed ring with wheat engraving down the sides. I will post a pic if I can figure it out.

This is the jeweler I used. It was a long process. I used a diamond I bought online. I think they wern't happy with that decision, but they got over it and everything came out very nice. They are very nice people to work with. They dealt with all my issues and changes. However, like I said, if time is an issue you may want to go in another direction.
You should look at their site just to see what they can do. You can also stop buy there store and look at what they have on hand and at the waxes of other rings they have done.

Good Luck with everything!!

Since you are New York, you might want to check around and see who carries Jabel rings (www.jabel.com). They make die-struck, engraved jewelry. See attached catalog pic:

I also just thought to suggest Scott Kay as a designer, they have a vintage line with the "wheat" engraving pattern.

hi Aeromax - i'm not sure if they would be convenient to you, but Eli Jewels made my setting and they are located in NJ. their engraving is outstanding. they don't have much of a web presence, but if you can get down to them i would recommend checking them out! here is a pic of the engraving (hand engraved, btw) on my ring....

ETA: that was kind of iwannaprettyone to chime in with pricing on her ring.... that's actually quite a good price IMO, considering that, i would recommend going with the original! if it is made by A. Jaffe, Pearlman's carries them and while i see you are tight on time, i think it would be worth giving them a call. they are wonderful to work with and if there is anything they can do to meet your schedule, i am sure they will come through!
