hi.  i was browsing through this forum and hadn't noticed a topic on wedding colors.  i'm curious to see what colors everyone has chosen for their wedding and what made you decide on them?

I'm having teal and red-orange.  Here are some photos of my bouquet model, as well as one of the BM dresses at which we've been looking.

I got the inspiration from a photo on the knot of someone who had orange bouquets with cornflower blue dresses.  You can see my PS thread here: http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=71183

Our colors are Red and Brown. My FI and I both liked the brown and since asian wedding normally have red, we decided to go with it rather than fighting it.

ETA: We went to home depot and got color samples to see how different color went together. That way we can also see how accent colors would come into play.

Wow, could that model (in the teal dress)'s boobs and arms look more airbrushed and fake!?! Great colours though.

I didn't start out with 'colours' in mind but this is what I've ended up with, decor-wise.

*grabs popcorn*

This'll be a fun thread to watch!  I'm still figuring out my colors - it wavers by the day.  I thought I'd settled on a deep red, orange, and black, but I think it might be a bit dark for a spring wedding.  FI would like it if black were one of the wedding colors.

That teal and orange though...I love it!

By the way...v!v! I LOOOOVE your screen name.  It makes me happy.

And misysu, I was also thinking teal and orangey-peach (and pink and red and purple and cream and silver...so lost).  I love your combo.

I'm thinking of "tinkerbell" purple and green, with cream roses and some pink in there (pink pearls?) somehow.

Is that too many colors????

Oooh. Mimzy I have some really cool floral arrangement pics for this color scheme on my home computer. I really like it so I hoarded it into my pic files for a rainy day. If you want, I'll post them for you later.

CJ, what's the date of the wedding and can you direct us to pics of your venue and dress, and tell us what colors you like, and which ones you don't?

I was inspired by the church I wanted to have our wedding in, they have gorgeous stained glass windows in bold colors, so I wanted bold purples, reds, blues, and greens.  But then we changed the city we're having the wedding in, so I narrowed the colors down to deep purples and blues with lighter purple and blue accents.  I kept these two colors because I LOVE hydrangeas in all their purple and blue shades!

wow!  i didn't expect so many responses!  thank you everyone for your replies.  :)

gtn, what a great idea going to home depot to get color samples!  i would have never thought of doing something like that.  red and brown will be beautiful, especially with an asian wedding.

independent gal, i couldn't agree more with the airbrushing in the photo.  no wonder women have body issues, what we see in the magazines isn't even attainable because it isn't real.  anyway, i absolutely love your color scheme.  so modern and the colors are all so rich!  i too love the peacock feather, are you really doing that?

gypsy, that bouquet is stunning.  and it will really pop with the bridesmaids in black.

aw crownjewel, i'm sorry you're having difficulty choosing your colors.  how much time do you have to decide?  and thanks for the compliment on my screen name!

aloros, i am doing the same thing.  i keep changing my mind about what i really want.  i really like the colors you've choosen.  i don't think they'd be too dark...but maybe that's just me?

bee, i think those colors will look so good together!  very royal.

shimmer, i don't think what you've chosen is too many colors because they are all very light.  were you thinking of having the pink pearls in with your bouquet?  i think that would be awesome!

mimzy!  i'm so jealous you're having a christmas wedding, that sounds like so much fun!  i love that lime green!

becoming_sadie, very classic colors.  one of my really good friends is doing that and just her bouquet will be bloodred roses.

Our colors are a dark blue and a plum/eggplant/burgundy color with whites/creams to keep it from being too dark. Our wedding is Sept 13th and will be held in a botanical garden, so we were looking for colors that wouldn't a) feel like Thanksgiving - seems a bit early for that, or b) seem like we were clinging to summer's bright colors. My FI's fav color is blue, and I love burgundy/plum flowers. The colors are really rich IRL, and I think they should work really well for us. My 4 BMs will be wearing different styles of blue chiffon dresses (one of them is shown), and the burgundy and creams will be picked up in the flowers. The cardstock I'm holding is what I'm using to make the invitations as well as table numbers, programs, menus, etc.

This is going to be a fun thread!

Gtn - I am glad that I am not the only one that stood in Home Depot for hours looking at colors. The people there thought that I was crazy! I must have brought home every color combo I could possibly want for our Nov. wedding. Below is what we decided on.. Deep brown & Ivory base colors with burg., olive, and copper (metallic if possible) accents.

hi tacori e-ring, great color choices!  have you posted pics of your colors from your wedding before?  i'll do a search in case you have, if not, i'd love to see them!

ladyciel, i'm really leaning towards that same plum/eggplant/burgundy color.  i love the blue color you've chosen and i think that will be perfect at the botanical gardens.

stephanie, i'm leaning towards burgandy and olive too and i hadn't even thought of adding a third color.  that metallic copper would be really pretty!  what kind of accents are thinking in that color?  are you talking about jewelry, favors, or what did you have in mind?  i'm trying to envision it.

V!v! - There are many, many projects that I am doing! My venue is partially outside (a garden) and the inside has the warm copper colors so I am really trying to move it out side. For example, my work had some oversized christmas ornaments (like fairly large ornaments) that I took and have painted an metallic copper/bronze. They will hang under the patio with the lanterns that the venue already has there. I am going to do burg., green, and terra flowers for the bridesmaids and myself. The papers (STDs, invites, table/escort cards) will be stamped with a single leaf with a metallic ink... I can keep going!

Hi v!v!, Tell us about yourself and your wedding! There's a very friendly and helpful bunch of gals around here.

To answer your question, yup, I'm indeed doing peacock feathers in the bouquet, LOTS! The woman who designed my bouquet will be using peacock feathers all the way around the edge. It's hard to describe, but I'll certainly post pics after the wedding (April 13th). She is also making me three arrangements using deep red and purple OSTRICH feathers (no, not plucked from my avatar ) with orchids and vines. It's going to be SO COOL! I can't wait.

So many gorgeous colour schemes, ladies! I especially love Ladyciel's. I'm enjoying it all. Thanks.

We don't have a color scheme but I'll tell you what we have so far (it's a hodgepodge and it's hard to see everything tying together):

My dress: ivory lace with champagne sash at the waist and at the bottom
My MOH's (sister) dress: indigo (she chose the color; I personally would have chosen green)
Tuxes: black, 2 button
Vests and ties: Ivory (the ties are a slightly different shade of ivory -- they're not the recommended coordinating ones that are usually paired with the vests)
The venue: the rug (wall to wall carpeting) and the chairs are burgandy
The linens: white (I'll choose ivory is it's available, otherwise, they'll be white)
My bouquet: No clue (I love red or pink mini callas but I don't think they'll go with the smorgasboard we currently have.  I'll probably stick with light colors -- pale/blush roses, maybe with a little green hydrangea mixed in)
My sister's bouquet: Again, no clue, but since her dress is indigo, I'm thinking something a little bolder than my bouquet.
Centerpieces: They'll be very low flower arrangements, probably in small square vases, not sure of color yet
Save the dates and invitations: White cards with blue lighthouse design and lettering, blue envelopes

well i've been checking this place out for the past couple of days and i've definitely noticed how friendly and helpful everyone is here.  i love it!

about me, well, i'm 27 and i'm getting married in november.  at first i was a little scared of the whole wedding process with all the planning and everything, but i've since realized there's no reason to be afraid and it's actually pretty fun!  i look forward to sharing my ideas with you guys and getting ideas from everyone else.  this is so fun!
