Okay, I posted about my bridesmaid dress dilemma here.

We went back out, found a second dress with three of the girls only to discover that the other three hate it. AND, now that my MOH (sister) tried on other dresses she realized that she no longer likes the first dress that all but one bridesmaid liked.

SO, I've decided to stop this nonsense, pick a dress myself, and just have the ladies order whatever it is that I choose.

This is where you come in. PLEASE help me find a bridesmaid dress.

Here are the details about the wedding:

- Daytime, fourth of July
- Ceremony & reception in my synagogue, which has a gorgeous, brand new, decadent social hall. It's not your typical church hall, it's quite large and stunning--floor-to-ceiling windows facing a forest preserve, across the street from the Chicago Botanic Garden, etc. (NOT that typical church halls aren't stunning . . . I'm just trying to give you an idea.)
- Semi-formal, I believe? (engraved, calligraphed invitations, yet (scrumptious) buffet meal; 10-piece band, yet we're also having a DJ to play FI's beloved 80s music :); men in formal morning suits, yet, well, I can't think of another informal element to write here.)
- I'm wearing the Melissa Sweet Mila dress. Many pictures here.
- I'd like to have white calla lilies as my flowers, but I'm open to anything.

What I'm looking for in a dress:
- Pretty
- Tea-length or knee-length
- Available in a turquoise or pretty light blue color
- Affordable (low $200s)

I have six bridesmaids, they range in height from 5'3" to 5'8", all body shapes, and skin tone from pale white to quite dark. Who's up for a challenge?

Thank you so much for your help!

Oh, and I should add that I'd love to do the whole "everyone choose a different dress but just in the same color" route but we've taken so long to finish this whole process that now we're pressed for time and I just need to pick one dress and order them already. I know this sounds bad, but I tried to appease everyone and that just caused me a whole heap of trouble.

Hi Haven,

I had some semi-similar problems with bridesmaids dresses. I've recently done an extensive search, and perhaps this one fits your qualifications well.

It is $200 at Priscilla of Boston stores, but I saw it for $160 at an authorized retailer. The sash and brooch are optional. My girls tried it on (one tall & skinny, one with large chest and one shorter one) and looked nice. It comes in a pretty French Blue.

Ugh, Haven, I SOOO know how you feel! I wish I had some good advice! I actually saw a pretty turquoise bridesmaid dress here by ARIA (someone on the knot posted it) http://www.capecodweddinglife.com/index2.php
-click on Ridge Club under portfolio. I think that is such a pretty, vibrant color!

OOoh, ChicagoLawyer, can you please please share which retailer quoted you $160 for that POB dress? I love that dress!!!

Thanks :)

I have heard nothing but good things about Alfred Angelo's BM dresses.  I want to own this one.

Future Mrs. P:

My future MIL and I found it for that much over Xmas at All Brides Beautiful in Hudson, Ohio. (it comes up on Google)

I haven't called NetBride, I'm sure they are worth a try though if you don't have friends/family in Ohio.

Hope that helps!

Have you looked at Watters? You can get them at a discount through places like Pearl's Place. I thought this one was cute and most likely flattering to a variety of body shapes. http://www.watters.com/product.php?coll=watters&style=7299&submit.x=0&submit.y=0#

This is the dress my BM chose. The girl at the shop, huge shop of only BM dresses hundreds and hundreds of them, and a great salesgirl who KNEW her stuff said this is a best seller because it can make ANYONE look fabulous. And you know what? It looked BLAH on the hanger, BLAH on the website and ROCKED on her, and on the girl who tried it on after her who had a COMPETELY different figure. AND it looked good on me (cause I had to try it on) and I have a completely different figure than both of them. Super affordable. It was 129 in that store, I'm sure netbride or someplace would have it for less. And it comes in a ton of colors. It's georgette too so if anyone has abs or a belly they aren't happy about no satin to highlight the bumps or catch the flash in pics.

http://www.jasminebridal.com/html/en/web1_b2_3_a.asp?id=966  There is a reason it's the the Jasmine Bestseller list of gowns.
