Hello, I am trying to choose between two diamonds and need help deciding which is the better stone. Here are the specs for both stones. Both are the same price ($2600) and are certified by the EGL. Any advice anyone has to offer would be much appreciated. : ) Diamond A- Shape:Princess Clarity:VS1 Carrot Size: .65 Table Width %: 78% Table Depth %: 63.1% Crown Height %: 5% Measurements: 5.16-4.96 x 3.13mm Pavilion Depth: 55% Fluorescence: Slight Blue Diamond B- Shape: Princess Clarity: VVS2 Carrot Size: .65 Table Width %: 86% Table Depth %: 71.6% Crown Height %: 7% Measurements: 4.95-4.76 x 3.41 mm Pavilion Depth: 61% Fluorescence: None Lavanya |

Welcome aboard! ![]() Both scream EGL Israel to me. Number one has a VERY low crown. I prefer those higher than 9%. Obviously, each stone is different, but I don't think that a stone with a 5 % crown and a large 78 % table would be a great performer. The EGL slight fluorescence usually means overgraded by one or two grades. BTW, what's the color on both? Also, I wouldn't trust an EGL VS 1. Some EGL Israel VS 1's I've seen were more like SI 1's. Number two has an OVERLY large table --should be more in the 55-65's or at very least 70 %. I woulnd't consider it even for a second. You didn't post the girdle specs, but since EGL gives the average only, be sure to check that it's not extremely thin on some points, even if the cert says girdle: medium/thin, polished. What's polish and symmetry on both?

Hey! Thanks for the quick response. I am not very happy with these diamonds either-I just wanted to make sure it wasn't just in my head. Here is the other information you requested: Diamond A: Color-D Girdle Thickness-Medium, Polished Polish-Very Good Symmetry-Good Diamond B: Color-E Girdle Thickness-Medium, Polished Polish-Good Symmetry-Good Lavanya |
