Well ladies, this week is the big week. Friday is Filene's Boston bridal event. My mom and I are going to go and 'hopefully' we'll find my dream dress for the lowest price ($250) of course I still don't know what my dream dress is....Anyway, as a reminder for the Boston ladies on the board. The event is on Friday at the Hynes Convention Center on Boylston St. Doors open at 7 or 8am (can't remember) and close at 9 or 10pm. We plan to go around lunch time to avoid the big crush. They're expecting to have over 3000 dresses and they'll be priced between $250 and $699. Only about 150 brides go each year, so the odds of finding a dress are HUGE.

So wish me luck, and if anyone want's to join me for the fun, let me know!

That's Mrs. Hudson_Hawk to you... Over and out.

Have fun, Hudson!! I went last year and the year before (when it was still at the main Filene's Basement store) and if you go after the craziness in the morning, it's actually a great experience. No stuffy boutiques or salespeople hanging over you and you can try on as many dresses as you want! I work in the Pru, so it's too bad I'm already married or it would have been convenient! Let us know how it goes!!

OH! I went last year in Feb and got my 2 dresses (one was $250--a pronovia)
It was so much fun!-- We were in line at 4am... and my Aunt from Florida flew in to be on my team-- her flight was delayed and ended up coming right from the airport at 5am! I don't know how she did it! It was a blast trying on all those dresses! The tonight show interviewed us--lol My Fi was there to-- he ended up falling asleep on dresses--lol

Anywho-- you should be able to find something-- when we left around 11 the racks were full again!

P.s-- I am going again this year-my Best friend is looking for a dress- it should be great at least we could wait indoors in the warmth
Good luck and Have fun!!

I went last year to help a friend find a dress. Although she didn't find her dress there there was so much to choose from. I'm out of town this week otherwise I'd come and help you! Good luck!

Ladies, I'm so bummed out. My mom was supposed to come down today from NH for the event but last night she got into an accident!! It was pretty minor and everyone is okay, but she can't drive her car and isn't sure how much damage there is yet. So needless to say, she can't come today. I don't know if I feel comfortable buying a dress with no input from my mom at all. I mean, I'm paying for the dress myself so ultimately the decision is mine, but I feel like she should be there with me when I find "the one" and I'm really really hoping to find "the one" today.

So Blinky, if you see a girl about 27 with a pony tail, wearing a gray sweater, jeans and red clogs, wandering aimlessly around the HCC, feel free to say hi.

Hey, Hudson,

I was so sad to read that your mother couldn't make it, but I'm glad she's alright.

Did you have any luck today? I left work early and saw many a bride lugging their dresses around outside of Hynes. I wasn't sure how the turnout would be because of all the snow, but obviously a little snow can't stop a determined bride! Hope you had fun!

It was okay. I didn't find "the one" and to be honest, there weren't a lot in my size. But it was a fun experience. I saw lots of girls who found their dream dresses. One girl found a $5100 that looked like it had been made for her for $700!

sorry to hear ab your mom  :-( glad she wasn't hurt.

ohhhh    i never got this post in time---  i was thinking ab you though.  I was looking for your e-ring  bec i don't know what you look like.     We got there when it opened and it was caios   but it was great to see all the dresses!! oh my gosh--beautifull beading everywhere!
you may have seen me running around holding at least 10 dresses and jumping over dresses and trains! I was wearing dark jeans and a green shirt with a black sweater and green sneakers with flourescent orange laces   oh and my (face)cheaks may have been a little pink---lol  it was hot in there.
I was my friends only worker bee!  her mom wasn't doing much at all    long story----  but my friend left without a dress.... she lookedf great in tons of them....  but her mom was negative ab everything and almost made her cry I felt so bad for my fiend that i ended up crying when i got home   i felt so bad that her run wasn't as fruitfull and fun as my run.
When is your wedding?  wil you be able to go to the next one?? I was helping all the girls near us...  I wish i knew where u were--- i would have run for you :-(   i'm so sorry you didn't find the one.
you will find one--- keep your hopes up-- have you looked on ebay?  I am going to start sending my friend links to dresses on there---  they have every price range!   you should find the style that suits you first then it will be easier to narrow things down.
keep us updated!!

Thanks for thinking of me Blinky. It wasn't a big deal for me not to find anything as my wedding isn't until Memorial Day weekend of '09. So this year I'll keep looking in the stores and hopefully I'll find something. I would wait until next year's event, but I'm afraid if I don't find something I won't have time at that point to order something and have it altered. That might be an irrational fear, but it's a fear none-the-less. I also think I had trigger pulling anxiety because my mom wasn't there. I found one dress that was really nice and looked great on me, but I couldn't get up the nerve to get it. I think I'll find one eventually though it might not be for $250 which stinks. I'm not worried though.

I'm sorry your friend didn't find anything.
