The diamond we are looking at is 1.92ct brilliant cushion w/ a ratio of 1.15 so it is more rectangle than square but not as rectangle as an emerald perhaps.

These are the two settings I like but I am worried about how they are going to look with that diamond.  Feedback much appreciated! :)

Which way with you be setting it?

With the first setting you posted you may not be able to wearing a wedding band (or size, of course) because of the pave. But I like it the best. The second one feels a bit too busy to me with the miligrain, the engraving, the triple prongs, and the taper.

Totally #1. The prongs on 2 just turn me off. Will it be north/south or east/west?

I vote for the first one.  It'll look great with a rectangular-ish cushion.

I love the first one! I had considered that one early in my search and really like it.

I have tried on some similar to the second and just didn't like it... I'm not sure why... I thought I would like it and it would make my diamond look bigger... just didn't like it.

I tried one on w/ a round brilliant and loved it but I am am not sure how I would feel about the setting with a rectangular cushion.  Makes me nervous.  Its one of those things that I feel like I will either love or hate.

No idea... I had tried it on with a square shape placed over the cz in it at least once and it seems I tried on a couple others without a square shape (can't recall if I tried it with a RB).

If you already know you love it for a RB (it is a pretty setting), I would definitely try something similar on before committing just to make sure you like it for the cushion because I'm thinking it would look very different.

Yet another vote for #1. I love how it showcases the stone but at the same time has the pave that says LOOK AT ME!

Here's the downside to setting #1:  It so expensive that if I get it, it will probably mean getting a smaller diamond.  So I will have to give this more thought.  It is definitely beuatiful...but a smaller diamond?   That's a tough one.

I really like the Jennifer as well Bee!!  You have great taste!

My boyfriend is trying to encourage me to pick a setting through Good Old Gold though because he has found them far more helpful than ERD and plans to buy the diamond through GOG.  He feels like it will be easier to have the setting and the stone from the same place.  He is not opposed to getting the setting elsewhere, but he has emphasized that if I can find one through GOG, that will make things smoother.

I like the LOOK of #1 .. but I really worry that it won't look right next to a wedding band -- or that the three-sided rounded pave would scratch up a band.

What about this one? Richard Landi #1934 -- flat sides (no scratchy!) Would look AMAZING with a cushion, they just work so well with curved split shanks.

EXACTLY ... maybe you should post your pix of that to show DesignChica how aweseome it would look with a cushion!! (And a band for that matter!)

Thanks, decodelighted. I will take a closer look at that one.

As far as the wedding band goes, I am not worried about it.  My boyfriend and I have talked about it, and I don't think I am going to wear a wedding band with my ring.  I am going to wear one on the right hand instead and then we we travel, I am going to leave the e-ring at home and wear the band instead.  We are not really into tradition so the wedding band thing is not a big deal to us.

Aw man ... I wish my hubby was so open minded! (I love the look of my e-ring alone! HA!) In your case though I might even love a split shank ring MORE -- it *kinda* has the two ring look but *isn't* ... think it would also mimic & flatter the unique curves of a cushion. Off to find Mrssalvo's photos!
