I am looking for a 1.4-1.6 carat cushion cut diamond and have checked all the stores in the mall down here in Naples, FL. None of them even have cushion cut so I checked some brokers diamond district and international diamond exchange. I would like to stay around $8000 for the diamond, ring, and setting. I went to the diamond district today and they had a cushion cut certified EGL-USA with these parameters. Weight 1.52 ct. Shape CUSHION SQ. MODIFIED BRILLIANT11 Color D Clarity SI2 Measurements 7.07 x 6.53 x 3.82 mm Depth 58.5 Table 71.0 Crown 8.3 Pavilion 34.6 Girdle SL. THICK TO THICK FACETED Polish GOOD Symmetry GOOD Fluorescence NONE Culet NONE Cut Grade: I have tried to do research but this is all so tough and stressful. The people here were very cordial to work with and didnt put any pressure on me at all. The diamond is beautiful and the most noticable feather or blemish would be covered by a prong. I have also been reading some stuff on EGL certification and am skeptical. I showed my girlfriend the diamond and she thought it was absolutely beautiful. ANy help or advice would be very much appreciated. They offered me the diamond for $5781 which would fit into my budget. Thanks for looking, Matt |

cushions are tough. there is really no way to tell much about it based on the numbers alone. your eyes really are the most important thing. I'd suggest taking it to an independant appraiser just to be able to verify what exactly you are getting and that the price you are paying is fair. make sure the place you buy has a adaquate return period so you have time to do this.
