We received our (casted) platinum rings (e-ring, w-band) and it needs to be resized smaller from a size 5.5 to a size 4.75-5.

I am not sure if any jeweler can resize or if we need to find one that specializes in platinum and would like recomendations on jewelers in the SF Bay Area that can resize both platinum rings for us.

I would also like to know what the approx costs for resizing platinum are (Is the price different than resizing Gold?) and usually how long would this service take? While you wait? A couple of days?

My jeweler can resize anything and the charge has always been minimal. I don't know what others would charge.. she's like $20 at the most.

my jeweler resizes it either on the spot (~30 min. wait) or if they are busy I can pick it up later in the day or the next day. Depends on the jeweler though. Mine is the same as Legacygirl--prices are the same no matter the metal. Usually $20-$35. Good Luck!

For that small of a change, have them put a leaf spring in. It can be removed or bent to alter the size and they are very easy and cheap to install. If the setting needs to be cut, it turns into a bigger deal.
