My romantic proposal story... |

S and I have been together for almost 8 years, so I knew that a proposal was soon (we had designed the ring together), but I had no idea when or how it would happen. Sorry for the VERY detailed story, but this is what I wrote for our website: We drove up to the Bay Area for the long weekend (Jan.19th) under the premise that S needed to get something for a future proposal, and I figured I’d tag along to see family. We got in really late, so we were super tired the following day. After spending some time with S’s parents we went back to my mom’s to take a nap. S woke up and told me that he wanted to go see his old boss and that when he got back we could take the walk that he owed me. I must explain why he owed me a walk - a week before this, I bet S a long walk regarding whether or not Troy Aikman was the play-by-play commentator for the Cowboys game (I won!). So, when S got back I was awake and doing laundry and we bundled up for the cold air and headed out toward his old house. When we started dating in high school, we would go out for walks from his house to the local park and sit and talk (and of course, kiss!). One night in that park, S told me for the first time that he loved me, and it was a moment that neither of us forgot. We passed his old house and headed down the street towards the park. When we got to the entrance of the park, it was pitch black and there was no one around. As we turned the corner, I stopped dead in my tracks, because in front of us was a glowing white tent with candles, flowers, music, and champagne. I think I stopped breathing for a minute and I froze where I was standing with my hands clenched at my sides. I knew it had to be the proposal I’ve been waiting for, but I kept thinking, “what if this isn’t for us?” S just shrugged and had to physically push me towards the tent. I said, “I think I’m gonna pass out,” so he gently sat me down in the chair. I was tearing up and still having trouble breathing when he got down on his knee and asked me to marry him. I quietly breathed out a “yes”, which of course he didn’t hear. He slipped the ring on my finger and then flashes of light started coming from the bushes to my right. The photographer emerged from the bushes and continued taking pictures as S’s family came around the corner to congratulate us. We drank some champagne, hugged a lot, smiled, posed, and laughed. S and I headed back to my mom’s with the flowers in hand, and his family graciously took down the tent and collected everything. We were both overwhelmed and joyful at the same time, and we agreed that we are both so lucky to have each other. I'll post pics of the proposal and a link to my ring post soon. |

That's beautiful!!! Just perfect, and I love the photos and the tent is gorgeous and you are so adorable together and I love how happy you look!!!!! Oh, honey, congratulations, that is just such a wonderful treasure of a memory you have there. I am so happy for you.
