I am looking to purchase a diamond from WF and noticed a few spots on the 40x picture.  The person I am working with claims they are dust spots, what do you think?  This is a ACA H&A diamond.  1.208 carat VS1 F.

Oh my goodness!

The picture you are looking at is at 40x magnification... that is HUGELY magnified!! The AGSL would only have looked at the stone under 10x magnification for the purposes of grading. :)

At VS1 clarity I absolutely assure you that the diamond is as clean as clean can be... and you won't spot a single thing with your naked eye... and you might well struggle to find anything with a 10x loupe.

Incidentally, that is a fabulous diamond.

If you're really worried...ask them to take another pic of the clean diamond...

Yeah that picture is really magnified. Plus you have the AGS report. I wouldn't be too worried about it

Thanks for the replies.  I asked for another picture on Thursday and the person responded back and said a new image will be uploaded on Friday and would email me back when it was up.  It is Saturday and no emails, no new image...So I have no clue what is going on.

It's a VS1, and as has already been said, you won't see anything, most likely even with a loupe. I have a VS1 and can't see anything. It's fine, and a great diamond. And be aware, the next picture could have dust too, they are like dirt magnets.

In my humble opinuon, you don't need another pic. I've purchased from WF, no worries.

Others of you are paid similar salaries for doing similar things....

They pull the strings and we dance. Our time, our talents, our lives, our possibilities, all are the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes."

That diamond looks great!
I have a VS1 and I see absolutely nothing with a 10X loupe.

When I first looked at my diamond through the loupe, I was really upset to see lots of little spots.  I cleaned the stone and looked again.  Sure enough, it was dust particles and it was absolutely clean.

Of course, it's probably worth saying that you will see *some* spots on the 40x magnification picture which aren't dust.

You will see the ones which the AGS grader has plotted on the cert, while looking at the stone under 10x magnification. You will also see other spots which only become visible at 40x magnification.

Again, at VS1 these are tiny and you won't see them with your eyes. :)

I would not worry...as already stated, that magnification is gynormous and there is no way that you would see anything with the human eye.  I have a VS2 and I cannot see anything with my 10x loupe...I have never looked at it under any higher magnification, though.  I have not personally purchased anything from WF, but there are several here who have and I have really only read wonderful things about them.  I have also heard that they are very honest in answering questions as to what the stone looks like in person.
