A diamond is a precious stone. Moissanite is an imitation. Better than cubic zirconia, but still a diamond wannabe. Unless you know your GF would rather have a simulant than the real thing, you should buy a diamond.

To underline it a bit more: diamond is a natural substance, moissanite is a made-made substance grown in a laboratory. That might seem a silly distinction to some, but it means a great deal (at least with regard to e-rings) for most women.

At least don't get her a moissanite without telling her it's not a diamond.

An ideal cut .33 round, G color and SI1 clarity with a cert, should cost you about $594 American, or about $816.43 Canadian; an H .33 SI1 = $544.50 American, or $748.40 Canadian. Is the price of $900 including the setting? Is the stone a branded or certified stone?

Assuming that the stone has a nice make, then it's a good price!

Funny... does anyone care to speak of the differences between moissonite and diamond, beyond one isn't natural?

Moissonite:
Double Refractive
About 9 to 9.5 hardness
Many times exhibits a slight greenish tint
Man Made
One company producing the product (to my knowledge)
My opinion is they are over priced

Diamond:
Single Refraction
Hardness 10
Colorless to most any color you desire
Natural (Created can be bought)
Mined in many places
Expensive but the prices has always been supported

First thoughts, we could get a little more detailed if you like.

Cheers,
Steve
