pricing my old mine cut pear shaped diamonds |

I have a ring that is 4 pear shaped mine cut diamonds that form a cross shape. 1 is cut really well, the other 3 have fire, but show more prominenent bow ties in the stones and a little more yellowish tint in certain light. They are at least .5 each, maybe .6 each. Any idea what they might be worth? I took a few photos, but I don't have an adequate zoom lens to show you what the ring really looks like. Thanks for any help or ideas. Also I realize I need to have it appraised, but am worried about finding a good apprasier of antique jewlery. I have to admit, I bought it on a bit of a whim. My first big jewlery purchase ever and am now feeling like maybe I paid too much, it was $1750. The ring did not come with an appraisal. I bought it at an antique show.

There's really no way to tell from your description. Since it didn't have an appraisal or even a description of the carat weight, color, clarity, etc., there's no way to know. Your options are to have it appraised (remember that insurance appraisal values are often a great deal over what you'd pay for the ring) or to just be happy with your purchase. You were willing to spend $1750 on the ring based on its appearance, so that's what it was worth to you at the time, right?
