Its not one I would buy due too the 69% table.
Buying asschers by price isnt the best bet because a well cut best looking ones will have a premium on them.
also I in a 3ct is going too show color are you ok with that?

Thanks for the advice.  I have to say this is a rather grueling process trying to find the perfect rock.

Buying something that is part "art" is just not something I am very good at.  Originally i was going to just go with a signature ideal with Blue Nile but then some kind folks pointed out the diamonds I was looking at had bad angles.  There goes the safety net of buying a signature ideal from BN.

My last ditch effort will be to call White Flash tomorrow and see if they can help.  The last and perhaps worst value proposition is to stop by one of the name brand jewelers.

In my mind BN made sense since from their SEC filings there gross margins are only arounf 15% which seems fair.  It might not be the best deal but at least I dont feel like I'm getting ripped off.

Is there a particular person I should speak to when calling WhiteFlash?

I just went to that site and was not able to pull up the diamonds.  Do you happen to have the links?

I haven't heard anything bad about anyone at Whitfeflash, I think most people have a fave though :)

I am currently dealing with Lesley and I think she is a gem :) you might like to ask for her.

Ditto. Lesley is a doll!  Also as Storm says, you cannot buy an Asscher without photographs, an ASET image and also the eyes of an expert vendor.  BN to the best of my knowledge, do not supply any photos or cut info at this time.

Nothing is more sacred as the bond between horse and rider...no other creature can ever become so emotionally close to a human as a horse. When a horse dies, the memory lives on because an enormous part of his owner's heart, soul, very existence dies also...but that can never be laid to rest, it is not meant to be...

strm got them from searching the virtual inventory at the top of the page (pricescope your diamond) These can be called in by any vendor. I'd go with GOG, they will do videos which really help, especially with fancy cuts. And I believe the first two called in are free.

-Murray N. Rothbard, in The Anatomy of the State

John Swinton [1829-1901] Chief Editorial Writer of the New York Times (Considered "the Dean of his Profession" by his peers), when asked to toast an 'Independent Press' in a gathering at the National Press Club, circa 1880

"There is no such thing in America as an independent press unless it is in the country towns. You know it, and I know it. There is not one of you who dare express an honest opinion. If you express it you know beforehand that it would never appear in print. I am paid... for keeping my honest opinions out of the paper I am connected with. Others of you are paid similar salaries for doing similar things....

The business of the New York journalist is to distort the truth, to lie outright, to pervert, to vilify, to fawn at the feet of Mammon, and sell his country and race for his daily bread, or for what is about the same thing, his salary. You know this, and I know it and what foolery to be toasting an 'independent press.' We are tools, and the vassals of rich men behind the scenes. We are jumping-jacks. They pull the strings and we dance. Our time, our talents, our lives, our possibilities, all are the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes."

yep
That is the reason.
Plus in my opinion Jon is the most skilled PS vendor at evaluating them.
He has took the time too learn them and made them a central art of his business where they are a sideline for most vendors.

I got a great deal on a 4.10 round stone from Whiteflash. It was not in their inventory or on the virtual list. Lesley located it for me from one of their sources. When the stone arrived, Brian, who is an expert and also responsible for the ACA line, discussed it at great length with me in language I could understand. I get very confused by all the technical information available and had complete confidence in his judgment. They had rejected several more expensive stones I had found on the virtual list.
I would highly recommend Whiteflash and calling Lesley. Also, I believe Bob is a gemologist and specializes in fancy cuts.
It may take a while but you would be in good hands with Whiteflash. Also, you might be better off going down in clarity and up in color on a fancy. Stones in the 3+ carat range are hard to find and you really need the kind of expert advice available at Whiteflash or Good Old Gold. You may have to wait a while until the right stone comes along. Good luck whatever you decide to do.

I spoke to Lesley at WhiteFlash today and she was so happy that people here thought so highly of her.  Right now she is helping look for the perfect stone for me.  It is nice to talk to someone about this whole process.  The thought of dropping $30+k on a item without even talking to someone is kind of scary.  Thanks for eveyone's help and I'll keep the thread updated.
