Please bear with me. I've had a horrendous day and need to vent!!!!!!
I'll make this as short as possible!

Ordered my dream dress from a salon 2 hours from home. (should have ordered locally but wanted to give the woman that helped me the commision) Made sure to get measured with the corset bra ON. I didnt want the hell of worrying about fit.... I knew I'd lose weight before the big day but would rather take it in, yada, yada. SO......
The dress came in end of December. Drove up to pick it up, tried it on. Had gained 5 lbs of holiday weight (damn the chiristmas cookies!) and warned that it would probably be snug AND had started the pill so knew bust would be bigger. So it didn't zip all the way but I knew it wouldn't. They NEVER said it wouldn't work, said if I didn't lose it (wasn't much, was getting off the pill at the end of the cycle cuz I hated it, blah, blah.) that i could always take it out. They clipped it to my bra and I guess in my rush and excitement the 1 inch or so of skin I saw hanging out above the zipper I took for where the dress ended.
Fast forward to a few weeks later to try on dress (last night after I lost the weight I gained....plus an extra 2lbs I lost yea!) I tried the dress on for my mom without the bra.
It is so FAR FROM FITTING RIGHT. It's at least 4 inches from zipping. The problem is not even the weight. It's my ribcage (that won't change!) The only way to make it fit is to add a tie up corset. Which I'm not fond of.
My Mom freaked... so did I. I called the store this morning. There's absolutely nothing they can do. The merchant won't take it back and they won't either. So I called the store that is local and they had me bring it in. The first store unfortunately went with the lower size (I was between 2 sizes) instead of the bigger for my bust. I had no idea. They never asked me.
But my dumb ass signed for it. So I was screwed.
SO..... I ordered the same damn dress in a bigger size and put a rush on it. And now I'm going to try to sell the first one (with a little luck as it's never been worn, has the tags on, never been altered or bustled)
The other thing that SUCKS is it is a gown by a private designer (Ashley Jordan) for Impression Bridal. So there's no internet pic of the dress. DAMN. I guess the only good thing about that is because it's not all over the internet not many brides will have this dress.
I put it on ebay, craigslist, theknot.... anyone have another suggestion?????

I feel relieved because thank GOD we found this out and ordered today (wedding is in less than 4 months!) and I didn't wait until my first fitting (Feb 29) when my options would have not been as good.
Thanks for listening. It has been a rough day!

Honey, I'm sorry all this happened. Dress looks lovely on you, and I KNOW you'll get the right one in. ((HUGS))

FYI though: posting the link to the dress auction is a violation of forum rules of self promoting. So I'd remove the link if I were you.

Thanks for the kind words!!! And the advice on posting the link..... I thought I had seen other posters do this, but maybe I'm mistaken. I read about your dress too. Best of luck!

Gosh, Neveah, I'm so sorry you're having to deal with this!  I hope you can recoup some of your costs and that the new dress works out better for you.  Hang in there...sending hugs and good thoughts your way!

BTW, could you link or attach pictures of the dress you chose?  I for the life of me can't remember if we've seen it or not!  Sorry if I'm being a dunce!

On the bright side.... My parents bought me the most amazing wedding jewelry yesterday (which is why I tried the dress on and found out it didn't fit...)
As you can see my dress doesn't have a single bead/rhinestone/pearl on it. No tiara or bling in my hair. Simple veil.
The necklace and earrings are so dramatic and perfect! So incredible! I will post that tomorrow. Also try to focus on the jewelry, the dress being ordered and available in my size, and forget about the drama and my whining

Oh hun, that dress is absolutely lovely on you!  I actually really like how simple it is, and I can see why you chose it.  You are going to be a gorgeous bride in that beauty!

I'm looking forward to seeing your new jewelry, too, and I'm glad you had the option to get another of the same dress in time.  It will all work out!

Thanks for sharing, and know we are here for you whenever you need to whine, vent, cry, cheer, etc...!  We all need to let it out somewhere, and here is the safest place I know of!  Hugs!

oh man. That so sucks. I'm totally worried that the same thing will happen to me - even though my dress IS a corset back. I heard horror stories that Maggie Sottero sometimes makes their dresses way smaller than the measurements say they will. Of course I heard that WEEKS after placing my order

Well, I am glad you found a way to solve the problem, although I bet another 5 pound weight loss would have made a difference (I used to think it was my ribcage too, but after losing weight I realize it DID make a difference to still lose weight). However, if you are happy with your weight and don't want to lose anymore (which I am sure is the case! ), then it looks like you've made the best decision.

........................ You say you want diamonds in a ring of gold...but all I want is you...

Your dress is gorgeous and I'm so SO glad for you that you had time to fix the problem!  Focusing on jewelry is a good way to relax while your new dress is on its way!

Thanks for all the kind words and compliments. I feel much better about the situation today. Dress that will fit is on it's way and I've had quite a lot of interest in people buying the 1st one so that's great! And hey, if this is the worst thing that happens I'll be lucky!

I'm sorry to hear about your situation I had a similar fiasco except that the manufacturer made it too small.  You  might have to have the dress verified with the size chart just to make sure the manufacturer didn't make a mistake.

Anyway though put a listing on www.preownedweddingdresses.com I sold both my gowns on there within 2 months and you won't get stuck with the ebay fees if it doesn't sell right away and you have to relist.
