I'm thinking about resetting the diamond from my engagement ring to the ex...Long story (aren't they all), but I bought the flipping thing to begin with (should have known...) and it's really a beautiful Victorian mine cut diamond, so why shouldn't it enjoy a new life as I'm very much enjoying *my* new life?!

So, my fiance and I talked about it - he's fine with my doing it as long as it doesn't look engagementy, so I'm debating having it set into a right-hand ring. I can't find the paperwork for it, but it's around 85 points (can't remember if that includes the small side diamonds or not), and I'm thinking about a halo, but I'd like to find one with colored gemstones around the edge rather than more diamonds. Does anyone know where I could find a setting for that, or would it need to be custom? I don't really have a huge preference for which gemstone - I love all green, and ruby's my birthstone, so one of those might be fun.

Anyway thanks for any help - I look forward to learning a lot here!

This is of course just my opinion but...given that it's the stone from an ering from a previous relationship, I'd make it into a solitaire pendant...There's an OEC pendant that Metro just made up on the SMTR forum...check it out! That way, it's no longer a ring, you know?

Yanno, that's a really good point! I'd love to go see that setting - but don't know the abbreviations yet...I'll go see if I can figure it out!

Here's the link to Metro's super-cute OEC bezel pendant.

I agree with Surf, because it was an engagement ring, I wouldn't make it into another ring. I would definitely do a pendant. And, it should be a decent sized one at that!

well now darling - whatever it is you choose to do with it, you gotta put up a picture or two of it so we can fawn over it before you turn it into another piece of jewelry. Especially if it's an OMC!!

........................ You say you want diamonds in a ring of gold...but all I want is you...
