Has anybody sent a diamond to an appraiser and had to send the diamond back because it was not what you were expecting?

I am a little nervous purchasing a diamond online, and need to know if any of you had a diamond sent to an appraiser and for whatever reason, didn't like it, and had it sent back.  What was the reason that made you send the diamond back and what was your experience like?

I can remember two diamonds which we received directly from vendors on behalf of their customers which were the incorrect diamonds and had been shipped in error.  Both diamonds were very close in description to the grading papers that came with them and if we had been careless, we might have missed it ourselves.

Most problems are the result of human error and not intentional.  Most transactions go without large hitches, but no one wants to become the statistic that proves caution is a worthwhile effort.

I purchased a diamond from Blue Nile, and once receiving it felt that it was too yellow to be a "G" color. I had it checked by an independent appraiser and she told me it was an "I" and to send it back to wherever it came from. The plot diagram matched the AGS cert, but I feel the diamond had been incorrectly graded from the beginning and that it was not Blue Nile's fault (although I was pretty mad and wanted someone to blame). I sent the diamond back and purchased a different diamond from them and I feel this one is the "F" that it should be, but I have not had it checked by an appraiser yet, but have had an opinion from a jeweller friend who advised me that it looks sooo icy...

I think my case may have been a rarity with the number of diamonds that are purchased online...

I recently had a stone appraised and ended up sending it back to the vendor.  The appraisal report stated it to be a lower color than the certificate, and I just couldn't justify paying the higher color price for a lower color stone, if that makes sense.  It's important to note that I was buying the stone sight-unseen, so the appraiser was acting as my "eyes."

I have seen something like this before. For the most part AGS is very reputable, but I knew of a case where an AGS G color was sent to GIA and recieved an H color grade...
And I've heard of a few other stores like this as well.
