I've been taking little "budget breaks" in which I allow myself to look at way-out-of-my-budget-but-oh-so-nice items. Lately, it's been invitations ![]() So show me, or tell me about, the invitations you would love to have if money were no object! I love seeing the beautiful stationery designs.

Date: 1/22/2008 4:23:53 PM Holy WOW batman. Those are works of art. Author: goldenstar Check out the gallery at redbliss.com. These are OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive but oh so yummy... Link The invites I'm considering splurging on are these by Checkerboard (who has like 100 invites I love). http://www.invitationlane.com/Merchant2/merchant.mv?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=MOA-LSM-B&Category_Code=AMO I am having mango callas in my bouquet and John's grandmother carried all callas on her wedding day. So I'm really loving these. Even though they are 150 out of budget. If the dress selling goes well, AND the replacement dress I buy is of equivenent value to the selling price of the gown, which saves me major alteration $$... THEN I may be able to get these. I really love them.

I'm a sucker for boxed invitations. I might try to DIY them. I wonder if it would be hard to make silk bokes. Maybe I can try to find a book about that.

Ooh, let me know if you find one. I'd love to try that too. (And since I'm really a LIW sneaking in here, I've got lots of time to fool around. )

Invitations are one of my big 'silly but HAVE TO HAVE' expenses. I have always, always wanted proper super-formal hand-engraved invitations (I'm not fussed on thermography). My mother thinks I'm nuts, but I want the original copper plate to put in the front of our wedding album - anyhow, she's agreed that they will pay for the cost of thermographed and I will pay the extra for the engraving. I'm getting them from this company based in Scotland (they also do a lot of work in the USA - esp. Letterpress and reckon that they are a lot cheaper than a lot of US companies.) They do all the invitations for the Forces, British Embassies and the Royal Family. Their engraver does the bank notes for the Bank of England. My invitations will be like these: Hand-engraved Edinburgh Copperplate on folded 8" x 6" soft white card. They work out at about $8 each including envelopes and p&p - thermographed would have been $4. Am I crazy??? ![]() ETA: These were way cheaper than anyone else in the UK who does hand-engraving. ![]() ![]()

I love this style: louella press but the designer from this site makes such beautiful things, just a shame I don't want to spend $25/35 per invite.... (and frankly really can't afford). But take a peek for lots of inspiration: rock paper scissors [URL=""] |

Dutchgirl, that rockpaperscissor site is gorgeous, someone was looking for sand dollar invites, that has a gorgeous one with real sand dollars! hard to diy, but worth the inspiration.

I fell in love with some very expensive (and honestly, a little over the top) invitations from http://www.grapevineweddings.com/. If ONLY I had so much money to blow on invites! This is my favorite: ![]()

Swimmer, I know, she's great! Just too bad I'm not able to spend $25/invite! she makes them based on your wishes. I guess beside that, postage will be a big expense as well. But still great inspiration yes! [URL=""] |

They must be astronomical in price.

Something quirky, sweet, and not too serious and formal is just our style. These invitations are adorable! http://www.teardropweddings.com/ . Don't know how expensive they are, though.
