I've been promising pics and details, and now that we recieved the ring (early, yay!) I can share the proposal story and pictures with you all.

I decided I wanted to do something for my fiance Maria as a proposal that would last her forever. Memories are great, but they do tend to fade a bit over time, no matter how important they are to you. Thats why I chose to do something a little different. It was Christmas eve, and she was on her way home from work. As she got to the front door, she knocked (knowing that I had been working on "wrapping presents", and not wanting to walk in on any of her gifts being out in the open). I told her I was busy wrapping (I was finished with my setup for the proposal at this point) and that I would have to blind fold her and lead her into our room. After the door was closed I asked her to get changed out of her work clothes and into something comfortable, then when she was finished to let me know.
At this point I lit the candles, and had the secretly concealed video camera turned on and recording. I led her into the living room and sat her down, telling her to open her eyes.

Here is what she opened them up to:

Now typically, I let her open one of her gifts on Christmas eve, so she didnt think that this was what it turned out to be, although she thought it was
very special that I had gone through the trouble of lighting candles and surprising her with something. She started opening up the gift a little teary eyed and was wondering what it could be...

(background)
I had been working hard for days on "wrapping presents" adn getting Christmas things ready, so she knew she wasn't aloud in the house at that time. What she didn't know, was that I was working on a special engagement gift for her, and going through every step carefully to make sure it would be perfect for her. What I decided to do was to make a scrapbook of sorts, of our time together, things we've shared, and my feelings for her. Each page would have quotes and sayings, words that I would describe her with and pictures of her, and the two of us together. You will see in the pictures posted what it looked like, and what the last page said (can you guess ? )

After she turned the last page and saw what it said she was kind of in shock. I turned to her and got down on one knee. I said "Maria, if you'll have me I'd love to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you marry me ?"

She kept saying "are you serious?? are you serious??" and then said YES!

After a few minutes, I walked over to where I secretly had my camcorder hidden and turned it off. She of course was surprised that she didnt even notice that it was there. Now she will have a beautiful book of memories, and an HD video of her proposal to cherish forever.

I'm guessing now you will all be wanting to see some pics of the ring, eh?

For those of you who didnt get a chance to follow the thread I had about how we came about choosing her ring, I'll post the link for you. Its up to you if you decide to read that before continuing.

Either way, she got exactly what she wanted, a beautiful Aquamarine and Diamond engagement ring!
Pics to follow (hope I dont get blocked for flooding with all these pics, lol ! )

wow, she's beautiful!
That was a very sweet and memorable experience you meticulously planned.

Aw, what an awesome proposal!  I love the scrapbook you put together, that is the sweetest thing, and the ring is beautiful!

Good job on setting up the camcorder...we just so happened to get our proposal on video, and after ten years of marriage, the kids really have gotten a kick out of seeing daddy ask mommy to marry him

Sorry, here is the original thread for those interested:

http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=74894

Since she also loved the original Blue Topaz, and because I thought she might like a ring she can wear in place of her new ering when shes getting her hands dirty at work, I also picked this one up for her. Its a Blue Topaz, with White Sapphire on the shank.
