I would say they are 2 of the best, but not the only ones. However, these two seem to have better upgrade policies than some others.

For not being educated in diamonds, you sure picked a winner! It looks great. Better reserve it while you think, that's a somewhat hard to find size. You don't want someone buying it out from under you.

thank you for the helpful feedback...It's one of the 1st stones I've considered but concerned about jumping on this stone right now. I've got about 3.5 months to keep looking...is it likely that I'll come across a better stone or an equivalent with a better price? I just don't want to rush and trying to get advice from people exposed to the trade. thanks again

That's a killer diamond, for sure.     Any girl would love it!

And I've sung this song before around here before, but may I ask why you have your parameters set at F/VS?  You could definitely get an equally killer stone (blazingly white and totally eyeclean, in a lower color/clarity) and either (1) save some money or (2) go up in size.  And since I am a SIZE GIRL, I just had to chime in with my humble 2 cents!

And THAT'S my story and I'm sticking to it!

I agree, it's a winner.   The numbers are spot on.  I like the F VS combo, but that's personal, everyone has their sweet spots.

Hi Gus! Welcome!

That diamond sounds fantastic!  What a great size for a fair price!
I love the F/VS2 combo!

I'm sure your gf will be thrilled with this diamond!  You are so lucky to just happen upon this diamond ... You can use the next 3 mos to find the perfect setting, if you have not yet already found it.

I would say grab this lovely or at least reserve it by calling the vendor right away before someone else steals it out from under you.  It happens more times than not.

With regards to the vendors you mentioned, I've only dealt with Whiteflash and they are fantastic!

Good luck ... I hope you decide to go with this beauty ... If not, please be sure to report back with an update.

As for coming across a"better" stone, that depends on what you mean by better. If you begin splitting hairs with the numbers, you might, and you could also drive yourself mad. Also, you are looking for really hard to find sizes as far as those just under 2 cts., there won't be a huge abundance of them. At 2 cts. it get's much easier, but the price jumps a lot too.

The places you are looking at have great prices, so you're not going to find a better priced one per se. However, as Lynn pointed out, if you change your color and clarity specs, you may see one come down the pike that's larger for the same amount of money, or a little more. But as Kaleigh said, and I agree, that's a personal choice.

You found what will certainly be a gorgeous stone!    I'm another "size girl" and would probably utilize that nice budget and get a bit bigger in the G-H SI1 realm, but it's just a personal choice.

Ahhh....My sweet spot!!! The F VS combo! And in the "Magic numbers" that lie slightly under 2 Cts no less!

I agree with the rest, at least reserve that beauty while you think, especially if this Diamond lies in your "Sweet Spot" too.
I don't think it is really easy to find a diamond that meets truly specific specs.

In fact, I just used the PriceScope Search Tool and found only 1 other one based on your specs: 1.9-2Cts, F VS1, Ideal Cut, Polish & Symmetry

Gus, the stone you posted looks beautiful - the IS is wonderful.  It's not always easy to find something just shy of two carats.  There is a definite price increase the closer you get to 2 carats.  At least reserve it while you think about it or someone else may snatch it!

I think I set my parameters based on my limited knowledge of what I thought is ideal, but am glad to be informed for a better decision. I know (in my mind)that the stone has to be close to or greater than 2 CT and I didn't know exactly what parameters to skimp on for the sake of a larger stone and same visual "naked eye" quality. thanks for the help.
v/r,
Gus
