what is the lowest color that you would go for ideal cut 1.5ct/ea studs?

bem3231 Ideal Rock Total Posts: 502 Last Post: 8/31/2008 Member Since: 8/28/2007	I am looking at a pair that are J/K color, ideal cut, vs clarity. Is that too low for color? In a stud is color very apparent? They will be set in platinum. Any feedback would be most appreciated! Thank you.

It depends on how an individual feels about color and its appearance. I believe that many PSers would think J is the perfect color for studs. There are, however, so many beautiful diamond studs on PS that range from D - J. From what I understand "warmer" colors like J or K may be desirable b/c why pay for something you can't "see", right? ...if the diamond is well cut, it should face up quite white since diamonds are graded for color from the side anyways. ... and the face is pretty much the only part of the diamond you see as an earring, right? My preference tends to lean towards D - F for a ring and F - H, maybe I for earrings ... no explanation or substantiation as to why ... It's just my preference. My suggestion would be to check out some J/K color stones or earrings, in person, if you can and see what you think. This should assist with your decision making process. Other than color, I would think that you could probably go to somewhere in the range of SI1 or SI2 range instead of VS. If the inclusions are not readily apparent, which they shouldn't be, no one should be able to see flaws in your earrings unless they are close enough to get all up in your ear and ... at that point ... probably doesn't matter anyways, right? Also, once they are mounted, they will appear whiter than when they are unmounted. Like sparkalicious said, I would look at some in person before deciding. However earrings don't come under the same scrutiny as a ring, get lower colour well cut diamonds and all you will see is sparkle anyway when worn!
