Hi Chatty! It looks like a pretty and lively oval, but it has a quite visible bow tie, I can also see the inclusions quite easily, although they appear to be white. It is so hard to get a feel for a diamond's personality in photos ( although you did a great job), how do you feel about this diamond? Does it make your heart sing? Or do you have real doubts?

Thanks for the pictures. Are you bothered by the bowtie in the oval? Are you bothered by the bubble like inclusions visible from the table? Have you seen this oval under natural light aka sunlight? How does it perform? What about fluorescent and incandescent lighting?

Lorelei said: It is so hard to get a feel for a diamond's personality in photos ( although you did a great job), how do you feel about this diamond? I honestly don't know. Dh really likes it. I think it's actually nicer than the the previous diamond. Does it make your heart sing? Not yet. Or do you have real doubts? No, real doubts. I just don't feel attached to it. Chrono said: Are you bothered by the bowtie in the oval? No, it really doesn't look that bad in person. I think it actually bowties less than my last oval, and we looked for weeks to find a oval that looked pretty good that time around. Are you bothered by the bubble like inclusions visible from the table? I don't think so. I can see them with my eyes at a distance of about 4-5 inches from my face, but not when I move out to about 7-8 inches. I don't think that my hand is usually that close to my face. LOL Dh who was a pilot (and has better eyesight than me) was having an even harder time seeing the inclusions. ![]() Have you seen this oval under natural light aka sunlight? How does it perform? What about fluorescent and incandescent lighting? Yep. It's very sparkly. Those pics were taken under fluorescent lighting. I adjusted them in Photoshop. (They were shot in RAW format, not JPEG.) Thank you so much for looking at the pics and responding. It seems like a very nice stone, but I have no sentimental attachment to it. It just seems hard to get excited about something that without sentimental value is *just a rock*. I just wanted some objective opinions on the stone, and it seems like it is what we're looking for. I like colorless stones, but I can't afford to have them flawless too. It does sparkle a lot. |

You are welcome Chatty! If you keep this diamond, how do you plan to set it?

Date: 1/9/2008 8:44:44 AM Author: Lorelei You are welcome Chatty! If you keep this diamond, how do you plan to set it? I have two .25 carat RBs (F or G color, VS something), two sapphires that are about the size of .25 RB diamonds, and two .07 carat RB diamonds that I could use in a setting. Well, I love this setting. http://www.artofplatinum.com/4images/details.php?image_id=338 And, would love to use all 4 of the smaller diamonds in between the split shank, but I don't think dh is on board with what I'm sure would be at least $5K for a setting. I am drooling over every Leon ring that I see though. I just adore the claw prongs and love the clean lines of his pieces. So, after talking with dh last night, we're thinking of a classic 5-stone setting by Leon with the sapphires next to the oval, and then the .25 carat RBs on the outside of them. I imagine that would be a more reasonably priced piece, since it would be simpler to design and not involve the time-consuming pave work. Dh said he would call Leon today, so hopefully he'll remember to. |

It seems that you are quite happy with how the stone looks and peforms. There's nothing more that I can comment on based on the picture you posted. What is the return policy of the stone? I'm just a little concerned that you aren't excited about the oval but maybe you are just being practical? You should feel wowed by the sparkle.

I think that my problem is that these days I seem to only drool and get excited about crazy expensive rings. Which is just silly. There are plenty of beautiful rings out there, that don't cost a fortune. And, most people (maybe not PSers ) would probably think that, my stones are crazy expensive.Part of me wants a jaw-dropping beautiful ring, and part of me wants to say "gosh, this whole ring business is awfully silly. who needs a stinking ring?" So, I think this conflict is resulting in me being a bit apathetic about this particular stone. Although, it is pretty, and I do think it's prettier than what I had before. ACK! It all seems so stressful, and it's just silly to be stressed out about a blinky, sparkly thing that's supposed to make me smile! |
