Hey Everyone,

I just got engaged a week ago, and am planning a wedding for July 12, 2008.  Just wanted to say hi and to show the two dresses that I am trying to choose between.

Dress 1: Is from the Rivini Spring 2008 collection.  I don't have any pictures of me in it but it looks much better on me than it does on the model, she doesn't even do it justice.

Dress 2. Is a Christos Spring 2006.  I love this one two and think it might be easier to find at some sort of discount.

Please let me know what you think about the two.  Oh, details on the wedding since that would be helpful.  It will be outdoors in an open field around 6:30 pm.  It will still be light out at that time but evening.  I really want me dress to give that "running through a field" sort of feeling.

Poll:

Question: Which Dress do you prefer

Note: This poll will begin on 1/7/2008 and end on 2/28/2008

Answers:%Votes
Dress 1: The Rivini 55%27
Dress 2: The Christos 45%22

Dress 2:

I'm still looking for a picture of the back of this dress, because it is gorgeous!

Hello and congrats again, beautiful!

Both of these dresses are absolutely gorgeous, and since you look like a model yourself, you would make either of them look their best, so I'm afraid I won't be any help with the choosing! Any way you could get some pics of yourself in them to show us those?

ETA: Oh, I was writing while you posted you in dress 2! I think the colour accents in the dress would be lovely for an evening wedding personally, but I'm sure there are plenty of ladies here who know better than I. I'm not even engaged yet, so I just window-shop still.

I really love #2!  With that little detailing on the bottom hem to the neutral colors at the bottom of the skirt!  The sweetheart neckline on #1 is a little too deep for my taste.  Looks a little "Jessica Rabbit-y", IMO.  They both look beautiful though- great choices!

Dress 2!! I think you could put on a potato sack and still look fierce! (Ok I apologize for the fierce, I've been watching America's Next Top Model Marathon for like a week!)

I voted for #2 because it looks fab on you. Of course if I were to see a photo of you in #1, I might change my mind. But #2 is BEAUTIFUL on you (although when I saw it on the model, I was like ewww. I guess it just doesn't fit her). On you however--divine!

I voted for dress #1 because I think it epitomizes understated elegance. The details at the bottom of dress #2 are beautiful, but a bit large for my taste. I think I'd prefer it if the bands were smaller.

Either way, though, you are looking at two gorgeous gowns.

Congratulations on your engagement!

I like both dresses, but to me the details on dress #2 are somewhat stylized stylized and appropriate to a more formal wedding that what you've described.  I think dress #1 has more of the "running through a field" look you're after.  And I agree with Haven that it has an understated elegance about it.

I voted for Dress #1 because it looks like it is more flowy...allowing for that feeling of "running through the fields" that you wanted.  You look super gorgeous in dress #2 too.

You ladies know how to make it hard for a girl!  The actual vote is 13 vs. 16 considering I voted for Dress#2 myself so that I could see the poll results.  I need to try on dress #2 in nyc but it is only carried at one store so I will try to get in to try it on this week.  The Christos gown will be discounted at a trunk show at Saks this weekend so I need to get that other dress on by then!

The neckline on the first dress, I plan to raise.

Welcome and congrats to another July 12th bride!  Zoebartlet and some others and I are also getting married that day!  I really love the back of #1, but I would need to see the top on...you can tell the model is too flat chested for it, but I worry that on someone with a larger chest, it would be too over the top.  #2 is nice, but it doesn't wow me, and wiht your figure, you could really be a knock-out!

that is a tough call, do you have a pic of you in number 1? you definitely look better than the model does in dress #2. i doubt you could look bad in anything!

I absolutely love dress #1.  It's so elegant and flowy.  As Haven said... understated elegance.

#1 hands down.  The second one seems way too formal for the type of wedding you describe.  Any kind of heavy satin like that just doesn't say "running through a field" to me.  I really love #1, but I am also all for brides with cleavage and I love the low cut of the neckline, the low back, and the flowy chiffon feel.  I think that second dress just seems too stiff.  Just MHO!

Forgot to ask where the wedding will be?  Mid-July is usually pretty hot in most places, and that heavy satin makes me sweat just looking at it!!

I love the second one.  I think the first one looks like every other wedding dress on the market and doesn't pop at all.  The subtle coloring in the second one with the small details make it elegant but also noticable.

Karasue, The wedding will be in Kansas so it will be hot! But both dresses are made of silk organza, the only satin on dress #2 is the trim! Keep the opinions coming ladies, thanks so much!

I personally like dress #1. I actually tried it on and it is really beautiful in person and definitely has that running through the field, flowy feel you are looking for. Its gorgeous and based on the other pic, I bet you would rock it!

I agree with the girls that voted #1 ...it has the look that you said you wanted... I would imagine it would be easier to run in the field in ....I love the simple elegance to it as well... I think the second one looks more stiff...just my opinion...good luck w/ur decision!
