Hi, im in the market for a loose diamond for my fiance to be. if you have the time please check out these two diamond reports on www.gia.edu 1/ 16039639 0.78 carat D VS1 Ex Ex Ex 2/ 15525261 0.74 carat E VVS2 Ex Ex Ex Now, the second one is abit dearer and has a H&A inscription. What i want to know is that the first diamond (from a different store) has H&A when viewed through the H&A scope. But on the certificate it doesn't mention anything about H&A, WHY? The sales person told me its because they don't want to send it back to GIA to get it re-certified to have it laser H&A inscribed which she says it would take about 1 month and extra cost to do it. Is this true? She also says that its basically a marketing thing to have it on the certificate just like the second diamond "laser inscription H&A'. So basically i want to know if GIA issues H&A inscriptions on there behalf (the retailers/wholesalers) or is it independantly issued by GIA. Or why does some have H&A on the reports and some don't??? Lastly do you guys recommend buying diamonds from www.diamondexchange.com.au ? Why don't they show the report number so that we can have a look at the report online? Thanks for you time Tam |

GIA reports what the girdle inscription says. They are not grading the H&A effect. They, and many other services, will write on the girdle whatever you want and anything that is written there at the time of the inspection will be mentioned on the report. All this tells you is that somebody decided to write ‘H&A’ on the girdle prior to sending in for grading.
