The wrapping paper has been tossed in the trash, the Christmas meal has been eaten, and time spent visiting with friends and family may be coming to an end for the time being.  You've had a chance to read through any manuals that accompanied a gift, and you might have begun that book you've been wanting and finally received.

What is your favorite gift that you received this year?  If you can't narrow it down to one, list your top 3 or so.

1. My parents booked the bridal suite for my FI and I for our wedding night.  Yay!
2. Tickets to see Avenue Q
3. Dinner and a shopping trip in Boston from my FI.

What do you mean, all the Christmas gifts have been opened?  LOL!  DH and I haven't even gotten started yet, except for the dogs opening their stockings...DH's been sick with a bad cold, so neither of us went to our family's homes this year for Christmas Day (mine are 5 hours away, and we don't want to take the chance that we'll get my dad sick, his sister has had pneumonia for the last month and we don't want her to get sick(er) either)...so we're celebrating separately with our families this coming weekend.

However,   I did get us some Pottery Barn goodies this year..I ordered them in September but everything was on backorder until December 15th and just came last week...two sets of Sausalito dinnerware which we will use for everyday and desperately needed, and a set of KS sheets with seashell print that will be a good addition to our current bed linens.

My boss gave me a $100 gift card redeemable at any Lettuce Entertain You restaurant, which I've withheld from telling DH about because I plan to surprise him and take him out for a nice Valentine's Day dinner.  Anything else we receive will be icing on the cake this year!

DD got me [among other things] the Guerlain Aqua Allegoria in Mandarine-Basilic. It is "to die for". It makes me feel like I am on vacation!

"Aptly named, this citrus concoction is as bright as a mandarin. And when the namesake fruit is paired with the crispness of basil, you get one sparkling, radiant, and lusciously luminous eau de toilette. This new combination mingles with the transparency of amber and the elegant purity of noble woods. Lastly, clementine and blood orange add their joyful accents to this cocktail of fresh fruits.".

DH got me 11 cases of a wine we had been searching for [at a killer price, of course]. It is the Kendall-Jackson Vintner's Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon from 2003. DH happened to pick up a 2003 [he could have easily picked up a 2004 or 2005 that are nowhere near as good!]. I thought it was excellent for the price [I think he paid $13 or $14 on sale here in NH]. Of course, I went and grabbed all the available bottles of that vintage at the various stores! LOL! That wasn't enough so I went on line. I found it for $150/case - way below anywhere else - WooHoo! We bought the entire inventory! Now we have to go to NY to pick it up! LOL! I am finally beginning to rebuild my cellar!

Hmmm . . . I'll also have to stop at Cartier, Chopard, Winston, Leviev . . . since we'll be a stone's throw from the city!

I got a year long 'subscription' for flowers... they'll delivery an orchid(and not a normal phal or dend but something exciting!) in bud each month and by the time the one is done blooming I'll have another in the mail.  I've gotten this in past years and I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE the gift.  It's quite expensive but for someone like me who loves orchids it's perfect!

i got two amazing gifts this year, and a third one is on the way!

my FI got me a betamax player off of ebay because all of our home movies from when i was little are on beta tapes, but our player is broken so we have no way to play them and i've never seen them! it was really really thoughtful of him

my mom got me a kitchenaid mixer! i have wanted one since i was like 16 and never thought i'd get one because they are so expensive. she didnt' even know i wanted one!

my dad got me a new brother computerized sewing machine because the cheap one i bought myself my sophomore year of high school finally bit the dust

i'm well on my way to being a fifties (betamax - eighties?) housewife yet

We just celebrated our first year in our new house, and surprisingly, I think we're done buying furniture this year.

From my DH, I got the Chloe couch from ZGallerie for our media room (I gave him a Sony HD projector this year), Coach signature fur snow boots, some clothes, and cookbooks.

My parents gave us money, as did his father and step-mother.  My husband's mother gave us a really cool retro movie theatre style popcorn maker that's pretty awesome, and I also got a large Rachel Ray dutch oven from my SIL and her husband.

For myself, I'm going to get some earring jackets for my studs.  :)
