Newbi here...I just purchased a 1.3K Russian Demantoid for my girlfriend. It is approx 8x6mm. I would like to have it put into a platinum pendant setting, but stuller has so many pendant settings that I am having a hard time deciding. http://www.stuller.com/products/listing.aspx?cid=6434b6c5-d3ea-4418-a3b3-3940e7a0bdc2 What would you recommend? My g/f is 5 ft tall, so I want the chain and setting to be as "small", simple, and inconspicuous as possible to show off the stone, if that makes sense. I was leaning toward the "Pear Bezel Necklace Center". Since it is pear-shaped, I assume flipping would not be a problem with this setting. IS there any advantage to a "slide" pendant? Any help is appreciated, and sorry for all the questions. Thanks!

welcome......how about presenting her with the stone and letting her help with the design? movie zombie "I don't feel enjoyment watching films that evoke passivity. If you need that kind of comfort, I don't understand why you wouldn't go to a spa." Chan-wook Park |

Hi there, and congratulations on selecting such a beautiful stone for your girlfriend! I think that you have made a safe choice with the pendant setting you have chosen. At the same time, I must agree that this is a good time to ask her, "Honey? How would you want to have this set?" I myself am 5'2" inches tall, but that doesn't mean that I want every piece of jewelry I own to be as petite as I am. She might want to wear it to work every day nestled just below her collarbone, or she may want to have the stone on a longer chain to show off on special occasions. If you ask, you're guaranteed to make her happy twice - when you show how thoughtful you are of what she might want, and when she gets the final jewel. If you are at a point when you'd like it to be a less expensive setting option, you can mention that, and it's OK. I've got a pear shaped stone that I am planning on having set in this "rub over" setting: http://eurofindings.com/ProductCollets.asp?PrdID=6294 I saw a pear-shaped sapphire of about the same size as your green garnet in this setting at a local jeweler, topped off with a .25 ct bezel set diamond, and I thought it looked very good - clean and classic. So many pear settings are fussy.

Thanks eac! I do plan on letting her design the setting. I was just fishing for ideas to show to her.
