I received this wonderful necklace from a very special man in my life... my 7-year-old son. He picked it out himself. After I opened it, he told me that he wanted to give me something special because he knows that I love jewelry and that he loves it when we go to the butterfly house together.

Here are the stats:

Chain: Gold toned plastic
Pendant: Gold toned plastic
Gemstones: White plastic, blue plastic and pink plastic

This necklace is by far my favorite Christmas present because my beautiful boy chose it just for me. So, I had to share.

Here is the box...

Aw Joolskie, how utterly precious! What a little sweetheart. I know how much that must mean to you.

It reminded me of a necklace I have hanging in one of my jewelry boxes. It's a necklace of a gold tone plastic sun with a smiley face on it, that my youngest gave me at just about the same age. It was so appropo, as he is, and always will be, my ray of sunshine.

Wear it in good health!

"It is also important for the State to inculcate in its subjects an aversion to any 'conspiracy theory of history' for a search for 'conspiracies' means a search for motives and an attribution of responsibility for historical misdeeds."

-Murray N. Rothbard, in The Anatomy of the State

John Swinton [1829-1901] Chief Editorial Writer of the New York Times (Considered "the Dean of his Profession" by his peers), when asked to toast an 'Independent Press' in a gathering at the National Press Club, circa 1880

"There is no such thing in America as an independent press unless it is in the country towns. You know it, and I know it. There is not one of you who dare express an honest opinion. If you express it you know beforehand that it would never appear in print. I am paid... for keeping my honest opinions out of the paper I am connected with. Others of you are paid similar salaries for doing similar things....

The business of the New York journalist is to distort the truth, to lie outright, to pervert, to vilify, to fawn at the feet of Mammon, and sell his country and race for his daily bread, or for what is about the same thing, his salary. You know this, and I know it and what foolery to be toasting an 'independent press.' We are tools, and the vassals of rich men behind the scenes. We are jumping-jacks. They pull the strings and we dance. Our time, our talents, our lives, our possibilities, all are the property of other men. We are intellectual prostitutes."

Awww, you guys are all so great. I knew that my fellow PSers would understand the importance of plastic bling. LOL! My son's gift to me was such a wonderful reminder that the true gems in my life are my three boys... my two sons and my husband.

I wore my necklace all day today! My son was so proud...

It's beautiful, and you have a well-trained son for some future lucky lady someday!

Wear it in good health...you should be so very proud of him!

Your son and his gift are so beautiful that it just made me cry - my son is only 13 months old but it made me think that some day he's going to be doing things like picking me dandeliopns from the garden and it's just so sweet to see how much little boys love their mamas!  Merry Christmas!

Isn't that just the sweetest thing?!

Last year, my son (who was 6 at the time) bought me a pin that had 2 interlocking hearts.  It is gold toned with red plastic stones.  I have been wearing it on my coat ever since!
