Can non-round diamonds be used in a halo? I did a cursory google search but haven't come up with any contemporary examples.

I photoshopped some princess and French cuts over the RBs on this yummy pink Asscher ring, just trying to get an idea of what it might look like... Is a halo of French cut diamonds something you can request for a custom piece? I don't see them out there (new), so maybe they don't work as well as the little rounds. I do like the way they look in images of vintage rings.

I like it w/ the French cuts- I prefer that over the princess cuts.

To me princess cuts are very modern- more than round and def. more than the French cut, and they don't "go" w/ asschers.

That's a stunning ring- where did you find it?

OH!!! That third one would be AWESOME!

I have seen baguettes used in a halo... Beverly K makes one... Tacori... I know I've seen others with various combos with baguette, french and rounds posted here and somewhere on the PS vendors' sites, so it can be done.

The ring is outrageous - it's from amgad.com... 1.38 ct pink Asscher. I think it'll be my dream ring for a while - at least a dream rock.

I did the princesses first because I just wanted to visualize something very square and I didn't think it was realistic to find Asschers small enough for a halo. I knew the princess notion was all wrong... then I remembered French cuts. I like it, too, but I don't see any thing like it out there. I was wondering if there might be a technical reason...

Yep - I like the baguette halo, too... but it can be a LOT of halo. The Frenchies seem sleek and delicate.

I think someone could do it, but I know that the baguette halos are very very expensive because they are hard to match. So I would think that a small french cut halo would be even more expensive...

But GORGEOUS!

So... on closer inspection, Frenchies are really attractive!

I took the liberty of brightening up the image a bit...
