Hi everyone, I've done a lot of reading on the forum and went to look at stones this weekend - I saw some I liked, but the one that really caught my eye has the specs below. I found that a little odd, because it did not seem to have the best combination of numbers. Could my eyes just not be well trained enough? The stones I was looking at were all GIA EX and there was one AGS0.

Physical Size: 5.97*6.01*3.69
Table: 58 %
Size: .81 Carat
Color: G
Clarity: VS1 - I wasn't particularly looking for this clarity, just happened the "nicest" stone had it.
Depth: 61.6
Polish, Symmetry: Excellent
Cut: GIA Ex
Crown Angle: 34.5 Degrees
Pavillion Angle: 41 Degrees
Girdle: Medium to slightly Thick
It is a hearts and arrows stone, the hearts are very well formed.
HCA Score = 2

From what I've read, the pavillion angle could be a little high, and the table is just a touch big. The stone was incredibly firery though, which I like. What are your thoughts?

Nothing wrong with those numbers.  It's within the "bullseye" of potential top performers.  If the pavilion had poor cut consistency it might not have been as stellar, but well-formed hearts indicate precision and care in the cutting (as do the top marks in finish).  If you saw it side by side with other makes in a variety of lighting conditions and it was calling your name it sounds like a winner.

Oooo...I think that setting is awesome!!Most posters here aren't as into the modern settings (I've hardly seen any!) but I think that the simpler settings show off a solitaire diamond better. What I like about this setting is that there isn't just the tension set solitaire but that it also has accent stones. One question: Is this supposed to be an e-ring?

Yep, it is an e-ring. She saw tension settings online and loved them. Doesn't know which one is showing up though...
