How to keep MWM ring looking new?

Quash Rough Rock Total Posts: 92 Last Post: 1/12/2008 Member Since: 9/13/2007	Given it's platinum and will develop a patina and grey over time, I'm not sure how "new" you can keep any well-made platinum piece, unless you rhodium plate it. I can't wait until my fiance's new Flame develops a full and aged patina, which is why we got platinum. I must say, I do love the high polish and shine that the ring first has - another mark of a fine custom jeweler, who hand polishes all of his own pieces. For me, we plan to track down a good platinumsmith in Toronto (any suggestions?) who would be willing to clean and maintain the ring. Otherwise, this is what Mark says, on his website, about keep his pieces well cared for over time. "Care and Maintenance As a rule, any mounting should be professionally cleaned and inspected twice annually. We strongly suggest that our out-of-town clients seek out a qualified, local, independent jeweler and be nice to them. You'll want to build a lasting relationship in order to properly care for and maintain your new heirlooms. Don't wear your fine jewels while working in the garden or in other situations where heavy impact or abrasion might damage your stones or metal surfaces. Leave your rings at home if you're going to the gym. My rings are intended to be on your finger through many of life's most important moments but lapses in caution and deliberate abuse will destroy any jewelry before it's time. Be sure to keep your insurance coverage on your important jewels up to date. If you don't utilize your local talent, your local talent won't be there when you need them. I am pleased to inspect and clean our own work for our local clients."

Chrono Ideal Rock Total Posts: 11,338 Last Post: 11/24/2009 Member Since: 4/22/2004	Rhodium plating is only to keep the metal "white" looking and is usually done to WG jewellery only. For platinum, to keep it shiny and white, a repolishing is all that is needed to remove the patina (which is what makes it look grey) and buff out the scratches.
