Come check in here...

DH is an emergency worker and is working tomorrow; as it is a week day he will be home for the late evening.  It got me thinking. I am very sad to be alone tomorrow but I think I am probably one of the lucky ones; my husband will come home tomorrow.

So, if a loved one has passed away or is working (at home or abroad) would you like to post here so we [me] can send out blessings or warm wishes?

Bless all working this holiday season and for those who have passed, let us always remember them.

Please share.

My sister's a nurse and has to work tomorrow. It's our first christmas where we're all not together and we're all feeling a bit miserable.

Also, it's the time of year when I miss my grannies the most. The two of them adored christmas and we always spent the day with the two of them-so it's never been the same since they both died in 1998.

Sorry to hear that your DH is working tomorrow. Do you have any family near you that you could spend the day with?

What a wonderful and thoughtful thread Steel.

I miss my dad!! He died 3 years ago and the holidays are never the same. We miss his sense of humor. We have our grandchildren and they love waiting for Santa Claus. My dad used to love to watch them.

I also miss my grandparents. They adored the holidays. My grandma died in 1988 and my grandpa in 1990. Growing up as a child, Christmas was spectacular at their house, full of surprises. The memories will always be in my heart.

Linda

steel, what a thoughtful thread.

I'm so sorry you won't get to spend the day with your hubby.

I too lost my dad 6 years ago Nov. We were so very close, I miss him terribly. Now I find myself bawling. And like Linda, my holidays have never, and I now asume will never, be the same again.

I miss you Dad.

Oh God Ellen, I am bawling too. I miss him so much. He made the best margaritas on Christmas Eve. He loved his great grandchildren so much, they used to climb all over him.

I am so sorry for the loss of your dad too. My mom has never been the same, since my dad died. In face, she is crabby now.

Steel, I am sorry, you will be by yourself tomorrow. Will you be having a special dinner in the evening?

Hi Bee,

Thanks to all the emergency services, working to keep us healthy and safe.  I am sure many people who are poorly will be very comforted and happy that your sister is working.  I am sorry you will miss her, she will miss you too.  Give her a big hug or ring her before she goes on shift!

I am sorry you miss your both your Grannys, thank you for remembering them this Christmas.  Bless all Grandmothers.

Thanks for your thoughts about me, but that is not an option for me.

I miss spending Christmas with my grandpa and uncle. They passed away within a year of each other. Christmas has just not been the same without them. I have a very small family to begin with... so when my grandpa passed away, then my uncle, then I divorced, it left my parents, my aunt, my grandma and myself. Even though there is joy through the sorrow, the holidays can be difficult and it's just not the same. I am blessed with a wonderful (small) family and a wonderful FI... my heart goes out to those who have lost someone, is missing someone, and especially those without anyone.

Hi Linda and Happy holidays,

I am very pleased you have such fond memories of your Dad; I am sorry he has passed but I truly believe that such truly wonderful people can never die in our hearts and do live in our memories.

Grandparents are wonderful, I am sure they loved to be with you at Christmas and tried their hardest to make it happy for you.  It seems that they did that.  I am sure they would be very happy to know you have such wonderful memories.

Do you have Grandchildren with you for Christmas, is that what you were saying?

Blessings for your father and grandparents.

ETA:  Thank you for thinking of me.  Yes I will cook him a dinner, and for the cats too!

Sera,

I am sorry too for your loss.

Your thoughts are exactly the reason I started this thread.  It can be so sad when things change and people pass away.  Small families can be great and it is wonderful to have in our lives anybody who is positive and loving.

Steel,

Yes, my grandchildren are always with us on holidays, in fact all of the time. We are lucky they are close to us.

So happy you started this thread.

Will definitely give her a hug before she goes to work in the morning. Infact we're all getting up at 5.30am so that we can open presents and have breakfast with her. The emergency service workers are amazing! Have a great evening tomorrow night with you DH and the cats.

I'm sorry Linda, I really do know how you feel.

My boys miss my dad so much too, especially my middle one. They were not only close, but hunting buddies as well. My son hasn't gone, and won't go since his "pa pa" died.

I am missing my Mom so much today my heart hurts.  Today would have been her 83rd birthday.   She passed away 3 years ago the day after Thanksgiving, and the holidays have been so different since then.  She was a beautiful, kind, and thoughtful person.   I was truly blessed to have her for a mother.

It is also my oldest son's birthday today and he is with his wife in Europe.  This is their first Christmas with her family.  I am thrilled for her folks but sad for us.   On a happy note, my youngest son and his wife are flying in tonight.  This is our first Christmas with them!

Thank you for this thread.  It has made me feel better.

The holidays are hard for sure; my aunt right now will soon pass, she has leukemia and is in hospice.  My MIL and uncle passed this summer and I miss them lots.  I think this is a lovely thread Steel; I feel like there are a lot of sad people this holiday.  I feel very grateful and blessed for all the good in my life; it just is a little bitter sweet this year.

My heart goes out to all that are going through a tough holiday and I do want to let you know here is a virtual hug dearest friends missing loved ones!! (((((()))))))

This is a nice thread, for all that are missing their loved ones.  I am missing my Nanny a lot this Christmas.  She always came for Christmas eve.  And my brother who always made Christmas  special for me.

Both of my parents have passed on.  My sister and daughter are at a long distance from me.  DH's family is also at a distance.  Before we moved to Virginia, when my parents and Jim's parents were alive and our sibs were all in the same state, holidays were truly a family affair.  Now it's my husband and me.  We love being together, but I miss the times past, when things were different...

Hi there BizouMom,

Today must be hard for you and I am very sorry for your loss.  I will be thinking especially of you this week, so take care.  I am pleased you have lovely memories of your Mother, keep them close to your heart, especially today when your heart is heavy.

I hope your son and DIL can visit for next Christmas but I know you will enjoy having your baby home with his wife.  Take some family pictures for the album.

Bless you and your family, those at home, abroad and special blessings for your late mom.

Seasons greetings Risingsun & Risingsun's DH,

A big family holiday is a wonderful thing but being together these days can be difficult.  I am sorry your sister, daughter and DH's family will not be with you for the holidays.  Do you do the long distance telephone calls?  They can be very touching when you just can't be at home with family or they with you.

I am sorry for the loss of your parents, which is always tough.  Blessings for them.

Bad times pass, but sadly so do some of the good times.  So I am delighted you will be with your husband.  I hope he had saved up lots and lots of holiday hugs and kisses just for you.

I miss my Mom, as always, especially at this time of year. And although I have created my own traditions with my husband and son, Christmas is always kinda sad for me without her.

Just Julia, I am so sorry for the recent loss of your Mom......and my heart goes out to all that are missing their loved ones during the holiday season.
