So Independant Gal was in Qc for 3 days this week and we met up for a couple of hours in downtown Montreal on Friday PM. I wish we could have had a whole day!

We met up at Birks. The staff was rude and snob-ish , but they have so many gorgeous pretties! We drooled at sapphires, I saw my first cushions (they have their own cushion cuts called Armorique) and my first asschers (royal asschers, yum)! I never thought much of canary diamonds, but in person they are so amazing! Then we went to the mall, Indy helped me shop for an interview suit (which I ended up not buying) and treated me with my first (mango) gelato. And then she had to run to catch her flight.

It was so much fun meeting her, and a little weird! It was like meeting an old friend I hadn't seen in 10 years, except I didn't really know her... We laughed at how I had no qualms about leaving my purse with her while trying on clothes. She's generally pretty discret on here about personal details, so it was nice to learn more about her. We discovered we had a lot in common! Looking back on it it's pretty funny, because we were pretty much like a couple of teenagers with ADD. We were so excited and had so much so say we'd start a sentence or a story and jump into another subject without finishing. We much have looked pretty odd to some people!

We told one picture or two, I don't know how they came out... I know that Indy only had a couple of days at home before she left for Peru, so it might take a while before she posts them.

I hope we can get to hang out again!

How fun! Diamondseeker2006 is the only PSer I have met in person and it is so much fun going to a jewelry store with a fellow PSer. Hopefully we will get to see pics soon!

Yes, even though I could technically be Tacori's mother(!!!), I still had a lot of fun jewelry shopping with her!  So I am glad to hear you girls were able to get together!  It is fun to meet the real people behind the posts!

Anchor, sounds like you two had a great time!!  Looking forward to seeing the pics.  I remember the first time I met Seven's, it was like meeting a long lost friend.  I think we were both nervous at first, but after we started chatting, the time flew by.  Indy, hope you have a wonderful time in Peru!!!

That's something I was nervous about... Indy is 10 years my senior, a scholar and all that... and I'm an early-20s undergrad! But I really felt like se remembers what it's like to beat that point in life, so we had no problem relating to one another.

Hey there! Yes, it's crazy hectic around here. So hectic I woke up in the middle of the night after getting back from Montreal and thought 'Maybe I shouldn't go to Peru...' But c'mon! It's Peru! Ya gotta go! So I'm still heading out tomorrow.

Meeting Anchor was super fun. We were giggling like a couple of giddy girls. It was funny about the people at Birks, because at first I was all 'What a bunch of snobby jerks!' and the security guy asked us not to take photos too. But then I started thinking about it from the other side of the counter... Two apparent strangers who use 'code names' show up in the classy jewelry store... they want to see big bling but appear not to be focussed on buying... they are taking pictures... JEWEL HEIST! JEWEL HEIST!

I totally bet that's what was going through their minds.

Anyway, here's a snap I got of Anchor near the stack of Birks boxes that I better be getting for Christmas (haha!)

You think Anchor is a beauty and a sweetheart on here? She's, like, twice as beautiful and six times as sweet in person.

Here's a picture of the beautiful capital city of Anchor's province, Quebec. It was snowing when I took this pic, and evening, so it's a little grey looking. But, oh, so lovely! Quebec City is celebrating its 400th birthday in 2008. Montreal is so beautiful too. Like, heart-wrenching. If you haven't ever been, what exactly are you waiting for, people?!?

I felt the same way when I met DeeJay. It was like I knew her, but I didn't. Kinda odd, but in a nice way.

Anchor and Indy, sounds like so much fun!  Quebec City and Montreal are two of my favorite places.  They're so close and yet so "foreign" at the same time.  FI and I love going there.

Have a great time in Peru, Indy!

SO funny - this is absolutely the essence of what it was like for me to meet Mara a few years ago.

Mara and I had spoken pretty much daily via IM for close to 3 years by the time we finally met.  We'd shared house pictures, shopped for shower curtains, shoes, clothes, etc.....all before we ever physically met.  We were at similar stages of life - both newly engaged; married within two months of each other; homeowners within 9 months of each other.

As I waited for her arrival in the airport, I wondered if it would be awkward.  Nope......meeting her felt like coming home.....like reconnecting with someone I knew well, which makes sense because I DO know her well.

That bond with us has only gotten closer.....I think because now our minds fill in our tones/facial expressions, etc.

She's TOTALLY the real deal, and I'm blessed to have her friendship.  So nice to see others enjoying that benefit from PS too.  I'm constantly amazed at all the really nice people here.

Haha, oh the facial expressions are just PRICELESS aren't they??? I love doing the 'eye slide' over to you sometimes, and having you know EXACTLY what I am thinking!!! That twin thing.

It is great to meet people from PS that you absolutely just click with and end up having more in common with than just baubles. I have met a handful of people out of the 25+ or so that I seriously do click with and love to see again and again when the opportunity arises.

Fabulous picture of Quebec, I would love to go there and visit some time..it's on my list!!

QC is beautiful and we'd love to go back.  We're not all that far, maybe 7 hours, so we really have no excuse not to go more often.  Going to QC for New Year's Eve was the first gewaway that my FI and I took after our relationship became offical.  We had the best time.
