I got home from work expecting us to go to an early dinner at a really nice steak house for a normal date night. One of my girlfriends calls tell to me her kitchen is somehow completely flooded and she needs to see if my Steve can help out. I hand him the phone and he says we will stop by her place on the way to dinner. We are almost to her house and Steve acts as if he has a heartburn and needs some rolaids. He pulls into the Shell station and runs in to get some rolaids. I am putting on mascara in the visor mirrir and I see him walking out, but heading towards the passenger door. He opens the door and says "You know, I just remembered, this is where you first told that you wished that you were married to me. Over the past year, we've wished so much for things and you've been so patient. We don't have to wish about this anymore. I love you so much. Will you marry me?" This is all pretty blurry of course and by the time he said he loved me, he had pulled the ring out of his pocket and was down on one knee. I was shaking and in shock and could hardly hear him. I only saw his teary eyes and him kneeled down in the Shell parking lot!! He put the ring on my finger and I just yanked him up to hug him. He said "well is that a yes?". I screamed YES of course. We get back in the car and he says we can go around the corner to my friends house to show her. I was still shaking at this point and wasn't sure who to call first. I couldn't even process it yet! I asked if anyone knew and he said pretty much everyone. My parents were meeting us at the restaurant! It was all a huge surprise and we had a wonderful night.
