I was shopping for a nice conservative dress I could wear to a daytime wedding and, on a complete impulse, bought this dress in a really nice olive green at Macy's:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000Y13G4W/ref=nosim/?tag=nextag-apparel-tier2-20&creative=380333&creativeASIN=B000Y13G4W&linkCode=asn

(I bought a different dress from ann taylor for the wedding)
I bought this satin dress thinking that, eventually, I'd buy a shrug or some other cover-up to wear with it. Well... it's been a few months now, and I haven't found anything. The problem is that I don't think velvet or lace or cashmere or a knit would go well over satin, but I obviously haven't and won't be getting anywhere with this attitude :-)

Ideas/suggestions for wraps/shrugs/boleros? Thanks for your help :-)

i am too lazy to check the dress out without a link (which i can't do myself) but i will tell you that i think velvet works with satin for winter. just my opinion. good luck! if you can post a picture you may get more help.

if nothing else this will bump this up and maybe more will respond.

Something like this might work. The beading makes it a little nicer than just a knit silk would be and I should think that the color would work with olive.

Or this one really only flirts with covering anything up but has nice lines (and is on sale).

The safe choice, a black satin bolero.

Hi crown1 -- thanks for the advice! I don't have a camera, but below is the picture of the dress in black on a model. I can't find the green color anywhere... but it's like Gypsy's olive dress but in high-shine satin.

Hi mercoledi -- I toyed with the idea of getting that ann taylor shrug, but I almost feel it would be too conservative for the dress. Am I being silly? Thank you for all your suggestions! I love the black Tahari one (third link) you posted :-)

I think that something like this would look great: Black Fox.

You could also do it in white.

Too tired to find the olive color. I an sure you can find a stole in dyed fox or something. I'll look again tomorrow.

This dress is STUNNING! Ohhh I looove it. I wish I had the body for it!

When I buy something, I like to think ahead about what I might be able to wear it with later, too.. I try to stick with the classic pieces.

I don't have any suggestion, but I love that dress.  I went to tons of Macy's in my area looking for that dress in olive green or turqouise back in late September, but I couldn't find one in my size.  It's such a gorgeous dress.  Enjoy it.

Gypsy - Thanks for your suggestions! Both of those would look lovely with olive green - yum! Adding those to my list of top contenders...

DiamanteBlu - I hecka can't afford that! And I don't wear fur... but it's beautiful, and you're right -- it would actually match the dress pretty well...

SanDiegoLady - Don't lie; I've seen your pictures! and, actually, thinking about my clothing purchases and planning for the future was my New Year's resolution this year... and last year... and the year before that

qtiekiki - A bunch of shopping sites that carry this dress (including amazon and macy's) are having shipping deals right now, but I've only seen a champagne color and this black one online... did you get to try the champagne one? It looks really pretty --

Thanks everyone!

I went to amazon and macy's to see what sizes/colors they have and they don't have very much.  Only black in 10 & 12.  I need a 2.   On the other hand, I don't need another dress any time soon.
