A few weeks ago there were some questions about a the cost of a large fancy vivid purple-pink pear shaped diamond. In the mass of paper and magazines I have around here I knew that I could find the answer, but where? LOL! I guess it tool a while!

In any case, today, I found an interesting article [page 44] in the September issue of Modern Jeweler magazine as I was flipping through it. It is on fancy colored diamonds - and it had some spectacular pics including one of a 2.01 carat purpulish-red oval!!! It also has, on page 52 some estimates of the current spot prices of fancy colors [and they are increasing rapidly ].

Here is a link to the online magazine:
Modern Jeweler Sept. 2007

BTW, the 1.1 fancy intense purplish pink spot price is $165,000/carat.

You are welcome.

I have also started getting another magazine called "Lustre" which sems to target the higher end. You may want to look into it. It is also free to people in the industry.

Interesting. I just had that problem too. The site is just http://modernjeweler.com. You can navigate from the home page to the Sept. issue. I hope that works!

ETA: Interesting . . . I just went to their site, clicked on "digital edition" and got an error 404. It looks like they need to fix their link. It usually works! Growl . . .

Thanks for pointing it out. Gorgeous stone!

DH was suggesting that we get a large pink for me to wear occasionally. He obviously had no idea of what they cost! LOL! [I enlightened him ]. I would guess that we will not be placing the winning bid on that baby on the 11th!

BTW, that Cartier sapphire ring is killer. Did you notice it?

That Sapphire is one beautiful piece of corundum! You can get that for me for christmas!Did you happen to browse the catolog?i was hoping to see some cartier art-deco inlay pieces from the 1920-30s...they usually have some rare pieces like this in their auctions close to christmas...there is one tiffany necklace that is diamonds and cab-cut aquamarines...about half way through the catolog...but worth the search.
