I decided to move this post to a different forum...I think it probably belongs here... So, here is my question….Does a girl save up her money to fork over the $1K for a Cartier ring http://www.cartier.com/en_na/Cartier or should get an unbranded version of the same ring at a place like http://www.rollingring.com/Gold-Rolling-Rings-s/20.htm where they are about a 1/4 of the cost? It will have the same look and style, but it will not say Cartier on the outside….
I know a few people have mentioned that Memoire sells them as well. Any idea of a price?
Thoughts????

Oops, I already replied on the other thread. I'll repost: If the name is important to you, I know that the trinity ring does pop up on signed pieces (none there now) and several PSers have had luck on Ebay, though that is riskier. I found a couple on Ebay in my size for around $400 - $500, but I was a little apprehensive about it. I didn't plan on wearing my rolling ring every day because I got it as an alternative for my e-ring and wedding band. Most days I wear the rolling ring, though. Even when I decide to wear my e-ring and wedding band, I wear the trinity ring on my right hand and so far it's held up really well. One last thing--long before I found PS I ordered the Trinity One in a size 56 (I cancelled the order) which is equivalent to a 7.75 in american sizes. When I ordered the rolling ring from rollingring.com, I decided to get it in an 8 and I'm glad I did.

Personally, if it's a matter of a few hundred dollars, I would get the piece that is the original. Even if that meant saving up for the actual item that inspired others. That's me personally. I am not one for the replicated versions, because I think if something is good, then THAT is what make others want to replicate it, so the original MUST be good. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. In NY, the Cartier rolling ring is $950, last I checked. I don't think it's unreasonable for something of it's weight and make. It's a quality piece and makes something that would be lovely to hand down to a daughter one day. Again though, I would rather buy less but have them last longer, than to buy many things and have more of a variety. Many people who get the alternate versions are happy, and many get several types, to have the variety, and I think it depends on what you like and your inclinations.
