I had the idea to use superhero names as table names. My fiance is known for being a comic book collector and fan of all things superhero - especially Superman. We're planning to be introduced to the Superman theme song music, he may wear Superman cufflinks, and there is Superman on our wedding website. I discussed this idea with my mom and she said it would look silly, "people won't get it" and "it won't go with your theme". I don't really have a theme, but there will be sort of a 1920's garden/kitschy asian feel to the reception. I wasn't going to have comic book pictures, but just rather plain signs with elegant calligraphy saying "Superman" or "Wonderwoman", etc. My feeling is that most people will get it if they know us at all. And if they don't already know, they'll probably figure it out. And comic books were very popular in the 1930s and 40s, which isn't too far off. Anyway, please let me know if this idea is truly foolish? I would really hate for people to really think it's stupid, even if we like it. |

I say, who cares? If it will be fun, do it. I had a friend who put Aqua Man and Superwoman as her cake toppers, and her thank you cards had superwoman on them. But everything else in the wedding was very wedding-y delicate. Those were just some touches that made them happy. Everyone just thought it was cute. Go for it!

I think it's fun and cute, mostly because it really relates to your FI's personality. I really like those small touches at a wedding that makes you feel as if you are at THAT COUPLES wedding instead of any random wedding ya know? DO IT!

Before we even got engaged my FI talked extensively about naming our tables after video game consoles (xbox, playstation 1, 2, 3, etc). I don't care if people don't get it - it's important to him and that's all that matters to me!  I say go for it!

I love the idea! I think it's a charming touch, and you should definitely do it. FI and I have talked about naming our tables after my favorite authors, or after constellations because we both love astronomy. ********************************************************** |

I agree...do it. Along the same line...why not make the tables areas famous in comic books. So Jack and Diane will be sitting in Gotham City, Uncle Joe and his squeeze will be sitting way out in Metropolis, ..etc. Maybe Atlantis? I don't know any other locations...But I think locations would be fun to refer to...Pass Gotham City and turn at Metropolis ... §
