Anyone hear of anyone around here? Orlando would do... Is it crazy to want to be nearby? Or is it pretty standard to have the appraisal done somewhere remote from my location? Thanks again. J

Right now I am using the Denver Appraiser Neil Beaty and I mailed something to him. Up top at Resources click on Appraisers and that should help you. I live in the Jax area too. No, there is NO indepdent appraiser who does not sell jewelry also, here. Richard Sherwood is in Sarasota. I found an appraiser listed somewhere, who was in Jax, and when I e mailed, I got a scathing reply about my "notion" of buying a diamond online, etc. Turns out he is THE appraiser for Underwood's. No wonder, huh? Where do you live? Maybe we are neighbors! I'm in Atlantic Beach. jeannie Jeannie

He is wonderful and gave very detailed information and evaluation. Could you make a trip out of it? Even if not I would still recommend considering shipping it to him.

Anyone else know of a Florida or even Atlanta appraiser who knows his/her stuff? I looked at the appraiser list here on PS, but none of those guys/girls ever posts here nor have I seen any recs.
