I am really soaking up a lot of information from all of you and I thank you.

I am looking to get a nice engagement ring for my girl in about 2 to 4 months and I need help. I will have about $4000 to spend on the diamond itself. I was also looking for a place that would finance me so I could build some credit.

OK the diamond itself. I want an asscher for sure. I know that my girl won't be able to notice all the little things that I have been learning so far but I do want a nice diamond. I really like asschers with tables smaller than 65% from the pictures I have looked at. I want it to be anywhere from 0.8 carats to 1.0 carats.

So could anyone steer me in the right direction? What color range and clarity should I be looking for? What sellers should I check out? Do you have any quick suggestions of diamonds on the web now that I could look at to get an idea?

Thanks for your help and understanding.

www.goodoldgold.com call and give them your specs (do a search on here for 'ideal' asscher information, there is a wealth of it) and have them source you one. They have a couple in your carat size and price range now, but they are all deeper than you said you wanted.
