Hello All, First off, just wanted to say thanks to the Pricescope community for helping me find the right diamond. I've learned so much from this place in the past two months. I've been recommending this place to all my freinds. I proposed to my gf last month with a 1.51 D/VS2 princess cut from Good Old Gold and she loves it. Now, we are waiting for the Calla Cut setting to arrive so it can be mounted (ETA is next month). Sorry, no pics yet, but it will look like this: http://callacut.com/viewitem.asp?idproduct=94 . Will post pics if anyone is interested. Story/Experience: My gf told me that she wanted a really SPARKLY ~1.5 princes cut diamond in the D/E/F range. Easy right? For weeks, I researched all the number (angle/table/width/etc...), looked at tons of ASET, Ideal Scope, and x10/20/40 images... and after all that, recieved a HUGE headache. http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/images/smilies/33.gif I got smart (and lazyhttp://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/images/smilies/2.gif) and picked the "best cut" diamonds that each vendor offered. I compared at my house 4 "best cut" princess cut diamonds side by side (not all 4 at the same time, but #1 vs #2, #2 vs #3, etc... for at least a day). The 5th diamond was compared at the Shane Co. 1) 1.66 E/VVS1 Blue Nile (Signature) princess cut 2) 1.53 E/SI1 Blue Nile (Signature) princess cut 3) 1.05 E/VS1 White Flash (ACA) princess cut (with intent to upgade) 4) 1.51 D/VS2 Good Old Gold (Hand Selected) princess cut 5) 1.51 F/SI1 Shane Co (Shane Classic) princess cut (local BM) My GF and I were able to compare #2, #3, and #4 all at the same time side by side. In the end, the diamond with the most sparkle came from #4 from Good Old Gold. All of them were very pretty and had alot of sparkle, but #4 simply kicked butt http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/images/smilies/6.gif. It was just more noticeable because the sparkles were bigger and brighter then the rest (like 2x more). She really really really loves #4 (and so did I). In the beginning of the search... I had expectations of how I expected it to look... only diamond #4 meet those expectation (I would have been happy with #3 and #2, but they wouldn't have meet my expectationshttp://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/images/smilies/17.gif). I did find the diamond with the most sparkle. It is out there, you just have to look real hard and at alot of diamonds.http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/images/smilies/28.gif Bottom line: I am very pleased with my diamond from GOG (and now I recommend GOG to all my friends) BUT I still tell them to be smart and compare as much as you can; just make sure you visit GOG while doing your research/comparison.http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/images/smilies/11.gif More info for newbies like like me: When buying princess cut, look at a lot of them. I must have looked/examine 10-15 diamonds. The higher the price doesn't mean more sparkle. My comparison ranged from $17,000 to $10,000. The 10K looked just as nice as the 17K diamond. BN, WF, GOG offered easy return programs. WF has 10 days, but if you talk to them they will extend to 20 if needed. Good Old Gold extended my 30 days to 60 when I asked. But BN will not extend their 30 days. WF and GOG both offered excellent customer service. Both were very informative and not pushy at all (actually, GOG was alot more informative than WF, but WF was also very helpful in answering my questions). WG and GOG both offered a "Trade up" program that I plan to use it. BN didn't have anything for a trade up program. Hope this helped someone. And thanks again to PS for this wonderful and helpful forum. -Tony |
