So Bubbly's thread about birthday gifts got me thinking--what are some of the best gifts you've given/gotten from your significant others? I'm always on the lookout for awesome gift ideas to file away, and with Christmas coming up more quickly than I was expecting, I think it'd be fun to get some ideas out there!

K and I have decided to do two gifts for Christmas this year so we can open one with my family and one with his. I've started on the scarf I'm giving him for one of the gifts (see below--the picture and pattern are from Knitty.com, but I wrote out my own message in binary code that I'm knitting into the scarf...yes, we are huge nerds), but I have no idea what the other one will be.

Hot chocolate butterflies dance through my heart and tell me you're the one.
Come take a sip of this so I can look into your beautiful eyes and say,
"Ouch! I spilled some on my lap, burning my leg, but I don't mind. I'm with you."

I have 2 favorites from my BF.

1) My promise ring. He gave it to me for our 6 month anniversary and it has never left my finger since. It's something that I will always treasure and even when we do get engaged, I will continue to wear it... but on my right hand.

2) A scrapbook he made me by hand. (the pages made out of construction paper, pictures, magazine cut-outs, ribbon, etc.... he did it all himself) It is by far the most heartfelt and genuine gift I have ever received. It stays tucked away in a keepsake box that I keep everything significant to our relationship in and I still look at it at least once a month, if not more.

My guy... he's so sweet.

for sure the best gift that my SO has ever given me was two tickets to see a concert in KY (we live in MI). it was for an old country singer who I fell in love with at the tender age of five and he was on his farewell tour and KY was as close as he was getting. it was at an old opry house and we were the youngest people there by twenty years. he was a real trooper sitting there through it all, not to mention driving me down and back. so thoughtful!

ladypirate, when I saw your binary coded scarf I smiled, but when you said you're written out an actual message in binary code within the scarf? Priceless! That's awesome.

The best gift I've ever given was FI's birthday last year.

I bought him Mr Sticklebrick:

My favorite gift from FH was right after we started dating. He bought me tickets (very very good ones, too!) to Cirque Du Soleil  because I told him I was totally in love with them but had never been. He bought me tickets again for this April,  I'm so excited!! This year for Christmas I told him I'd get him something, but I want him to just get me a card because I want him to keep saving.
