Hi all! I have been reading through the posts and want to say thank you to everyone for being so helpful and informative. I have learned so much!

I am looking to buy my first diamond that I plan to use in a delicate full bezel setting; something like this - http://www.brilliantearth.com/RingDetailNew.aspx?sid=79&type=silver&start=setting&shape=

My budget is $3500 for the diamond.

I would love to hear some opinions (positive OR negative) on a Bluenile.com diamond with the following specs:

Price: $3,475
Carat weight: 0.71
Cut: Signature Ideal
Color: G
Clarity: VS1
Depth %: 61.7%
Table %: 57%
Symmetry: Excellent
Polish: Excellent
Girdle: Medium, faceted
Culet: Very small
Fluorescence: None
Measurements: 5.70 x 5.75 x 3.53 mm

Does this sound like a good deal?

Thanks again for sharing your wisdom!

Rachel

Welcome, Rachel!  We'd need the crown and pavilion angles to be able to evaluate that stone.

Are you opposed to VS2 clarity? It would allow you to go a little larger on the diamond.

(I just looked and the best thing I could find was this one at $3565 with discounts:

.765  G VS2  (5.90 x 5.92 mm)

http://www.whiteflash.com/round_ideal_cut/Round-Ideal-Cut-cut-diamond-283293.htm#

This one is a little larger than the one you listed, plus WF has a lifetime trade-in policy, just in case!)

~~~ When in doubt...don't.~~~
Thank you so much! That one is beautiful! I am more concerned with brilliance or "sparkle" than I am with size. My fiancee is blessed in that I have tiny fingers so even a .5 ct looks rather substantial on my finger
Would the Whiteflash "ideal" diamond have the same brilliance as a Blue Nile Signature Ideal?
Thanks again,
Rachel
IDK how Blue Nile diamonds sparkle... but I would certainly trust the experts at Whiteflash. If you are at all interested in it and close to a purchase, please put it on reserve so someone else doesn't get it while you are deciding.
