Some enterprising bride on here with fabulous taste has a jewel of a venue in or RIGHT near Spring Lake in NJ. I don't remember who, but I remember the place was beautiful, trees, parklike oasis type place.

Any information on this will earn you my eternal gratitude.

Was it Mustang Fan? Link. She's gone from PS, unfortunately, so who knows if she ended up there...

That's IT Selkie!! You found it. ETERNAL gratitude!! We're in NJ in December for the Holidays, so I might have to stop in and see what they have to offer. If it's as pretty as the pics... it might just be THE PLACE.

Thank you Belle!

Gypsy, you know that if you get married back at the Jersey Shore that I may have to crash your wedding, right?

Fingers crossed that you have finally found IT!

I just checked out Mustang gal's post and I see that it is The Mill!  I can't believe you never ate there when you lived out here.  It is wonderful.  (In the interest of full disclosure, I did get a lobster bisque there once that made me a little ill, but that was an isolated incident)  We still have a gift certificate to use there and I am looking forward to it.  I haven't personally been there for the event, but a close friend used them for her sister's wedding shower, so I can ask her about her experience if you'd like.

Also, if you need someone impartial to do some reconnaissance or real-picture taking, I may be your gal.  This place is just up the road from me!

fata... you are more than welcome to crash!!! I'm leaving the east coast/ west coast thing up to John. I think having it close to home will cut down on stress of planning. But at the same time, it's not like we don't have really good freinds (like yourself) and family willing to give us a hand in NJ. So really, it's a matter of where we can get the most out of the experience.

As for pics... well if it's just UP THE ROAD  . What do you think of the place in terms of cleanliness and age of carpets and stuff? That's one of my biggest pet peeves: when places have an air of neglect about them in terms of their furnishings and cleanniness standards.

Do you have any other suggestions of venues, I'm open to having a couple to look at while we're out for the holidays.

I'll see what I can do in terms of getting over there and getting you some real pics.  My only concern is that on the other side of the trees for the outdoor ceremony location is the parking lot.  I may be wrong, or it may be screened enough, though.  Definitely something that needs to be checked out in person.  As for the upkeep of the place, I think it is great.  I wasn't paying specific attention to it last time I was there, but I definitely can't say that I noticed an air of neglect, and I think that is the sort of thing I would notice as well.  The Mill is considered a pretty uppity place around here, and that's saying something considering it is in Spring Lake!  And I think they have recently done some re-decorating, so I you are likely pretty safe on that score.

Just a little bit of trivia, The Mill is actually co-owned by Joe Pesci (or at least it used to be)!
