Hi, i need your help! so i'm new at this whole ring stuff and i'm desperate for some information. i know my boyfriend is on a ring hunt and he's been hinting for me to tell him exactly what i want. i know this is the ring i want..but here is the problem. i know he has a diamond guy and is buying the diamond separately. i know it will be a cushion cut diamond somewhere between 2.5 and 3.0 carats. can i buy this band anywhere without having to buy a christopher designs crisscut diamond to go in it? does anyone know what this band style is called and what it would cost in platinum???!?!? please help- i need this information soon.....

A halo like that needs to be created around a specific stone's dimensions. It's not a stock setting you can buy from a manufacturer. Your best bet is probably to show the picture to a custom ring designer & have them create something similar. Designers used a lot around here are Leon Mege in NY, Maytal Hannah in CA, Quest in DC ... and there are others. Price is dependent on the designer & the size of the diamonds used & the cost of the metal the date its purchased. I'd guess anywhere from 4K to 15K for that setting. Not my biz at all -- but are sure SURE you want a large halo like that on a three carat cushion stone?? Have you tried something similar on to make sure it won't overwhelm your hand??

I second deco's recommendations for a custom designers. I also second making sure you like the look of a halo'd cushion that big. You very well may, but just be sure b/c it will command quite a presence on your hand. love the setting though

Wow, that's setting certainly makes a statement! It's like the Harry Winston Cushion Halo Ring with the melee on steriods. I second the custom recomendation and would add Ocean Pearlman and Mark at Engagment Rings Direct to the list of custom designers/vendors. If you want the proportionality of that setting... ei the size relationship between the melee and the center, your best best might be ERD or Quest or Whiteflash who will make designs to your specifications, and not give you their design input or try to influence the design. Ocean, Maytal and especially Leon are going to want to shape the design to suit their style... and I can't say that the particular look of that setting would fit any of their styles very well. If you want the setting a little more scaled down (Harry Winston) I recommend Icestore.com which has a setting -- existing-- that is a pretty close copy of the HW and made for a cushion. Here is the icestore's setting:
