I would like to see some examples of a princess setting where the stone is turned about a 1/4 of the way. I dont know what this is called, but I think I saw a ring on here before where someone had the stone turned but cant seem to find the pictures.  Also, any feedback as to how this would look when paired with a princess cut channel set eternity wedding band? Any help would be great.

I believe the position of a princess stone in this manner is called "starset" and if I recall correctly there may be a few around PS.  Let me see what I can find.

The above was the only pic I could find, hopefully the setting of that princess is what you are talking about.

There are a few more here. I have a pretty little amethyst that's kite set like that in a small three stone, but I don't have any pictures.

Good luck!

Thank you guys so much! Yes, that is exactly what I was talking about.  I am having my stone set through WF and they called it kite setting, as mentioned above. Problem is, im having trouble finding a setting that can allow the stone to be turned this way.  They said the traditional tiffany setting cant be done like this, any suggestions on solitare settings?

I have a friend with a turned princess, and she calls it a "Compass" setting.  It's about a 2.5-3 carat beauty...must get her to let me take pictures of it!!!  (Aaaghhhh...she just moved to another town, but I'll hunt her down one of these days!)

I believe that Nicole Kidman's engagement ring to Tom Cruise was positioned the way you are looking for. I always thought it was a pretty setting. Here are several pictures from ps. I don't know where there are better photos.

Here is a picture of my original engagement ring setting.  I had the marquise stone reset into another setting and had a princess shaped sapphire put in my ring.  The jeweler called it a kite setting.

Wowsers, Beeweaver, that sapphire is a beaut!  Gorgeous, gorgeous ring!  Love it!

Ms.candice, any setting with a peg head should be able to be turned. The traditional tiffany setting has a head that is part of the setting, so if you can find one with a removable peg head, turning it should be no problem.

Here is the example that was set to me by WF as an option for the kite setting.  Personally, I am not crazy about it and prefer the tiffany over this style.  Theres just something about the way the head sits on the band that makes me feel like it wouldnt be as stable.
