I am thinking of getting aquamarine ering.  Is aquamarine suitable for everyday wear or should I just go with diamond ering?  Thanks so much.

In general the answer would be no, it is not really strong enough for everyday wear, but it would also depend on the size of stone and how it was set. If it was well protected within the setting and you tend to not be hard on your jewellery then perhaps it could work for you.

I have a aqua just under 2 carats that I wear on my right hand quite often. It is very exposed in it's setting so I try to be very careful when I am wearing it. You may not want that kind of worry for your everyday ering.

Aqua's certainly are beautiful though, and it would be nice if you could incorporate it into your ring somehow.

i wouldn't but i believe there are other pricescopers that have....i'm too rough to wear any engagement ring 24/7.  even a diamond will only take so much abuse.  hit it the wrong way and it too will sustain damage.....rare but it happens.  some might depend on how you have it set.  if its very exposed and going to take every bang on the stone then i wouldn't do it.  have you done a search on pricescope re aqua e-rings?

I would not do it for an everyday wear ring.  An aqua is a lovely choice for an engagement ring but only if worn occasionally.  If you want to wear it all the time, then a diamond is the way to go.  If you still want to go the coloured stone route, than I'd suggest a sapphire.

Thanks  hlmr, movie zombie and Chrono.
I was thinking of getting Tiffany Legacy in aquamarine.  Another PSer Clanalois have one that she wears as RHR.  Its just stunning....

And aquamarine is cheaper than a diamond version .  I can get them in sapphire but that probably cost as much as diamond *sigh*.
This is going to be my 10 years anniversary pressie to myself....

Anyway,  I don't think I am gentle enough to "baby" my everyday ring so I better look for something else.

I love ps...everyone is so helpful and I am learning so much.....I am not too sure if I am addicted to buying jewelleries or the Pricescope itself *blush*.

that ring is pretty well protected.....perhaps you could wear it when you leave the house only.  i wear my spess to the garden center but not at home.  however, if you work outside the home, it could be a problem depending upon what you do for a living.  my e-ring is an every day ring:   every day i leave the house.  is that an option for you?  hate to see you give up your dream.......

ps eta:  there are lighter color sapphires that don't carry the premium that the more saturated blues carry.  some of the montana and australian sapphires are quite attractive and might be affordable as well as satisfying for your project.

Aquas are gorgeous but I would worry about wearing one every day.  I'll be anxious to see what you get.

My cousin has a beautiful aquamarine e-ring. She got engaged 10 years ago - I saw her last month and she was saying how much she regretted having chosen it. She's already had it repolished twice as it has chipped so badly and now only wears it for very special occasions, when she wants to wear it everyday.

My e-ring is an aqua and I wear it 24/7 (well, except for the shower). I haven't had any issues with it and I've whacked it good on accident a few times. I get so many compliments on it and would say go for it!

Patience, your ring is lovely!! Glad to hear you haven't had any problems with wearing it regularly.

Scarlett, I meant to mention that my aqua is almost 3 carats not 2 (apparently I was having a brain cramp when I posted before ) and in a setting that is quite high. The lower settings would definitely work much better for everyday wear.

Thanks everyone for the replies.

Patience, your ering is gorgeous.  I love the aquamarine color....so fresh and make me think of the Caribbean sea.  I just have to go to beach more and look at it lol  I am currently living in the Caribbean and maybe thats why I am so crazy about the color....reminds me of the tranquil sea.

hlmr
, 3 carats!!!!!!!!!  hmmm that is definately going to be amazing.  Can I please see a close up of your ring????  So I can drool.

I think I am going to give auqamarine ering a miss,  maybe I can get it in pendant or something like that.
