ckillilea Rough Rock Total Posts: 9 Last Post: 3/13/2008 Member Since: 9/18/2007	Hello! I am new but have been looking at this site for some time. My BF and I have been looking at rings a lot lately. I thought I had my heart set on a scott kay http://www.solomonbrothers.com/Search/JewelrySearchDetails.asp?sSKU=98574 but my BF thinks the band it too thick (I wear 4.75). I also really liked this Ritani http://www.solomonbrothers.com/Search/JewelrySearchDetails.asp?sSKU=93067-1 I love the vintage engraved look, but the petite pave is also subtle and sparkly. Does anyone have any suggestions about a pick? We are going to get around a 1.0 c round center stone. I am at a loss and would apprecaite any suggestions/help for making this decision. Thanks!!!

Have you looked at other similar Scott Kay's that might accentuate your center diamond better? teetee Cut Rock Total Posts: 212 Last Post: 10/25/2009 Member Since: 9/18/2006	My vote is for the Ritani...I have to confess that I am little biased here because that Ritani setting is probably going to be the one that I chose for myself. Have you had a chance to try both rings on? The Ritani is very delicate and I have not found any other setting with a thinner band. I like the simple, elegant look and the thin band is going to make the 1ct is look huge. The pave band does not compete with the center stone. I was just at BBB last weekend and they had some new Ritani settings...I can't remember if they had any with engraving but there were some nice ones to try on.

A year later, I still love it, and I still get tons of compliments on it. Most people think my stone is much larger than it really is. And I've had no problems with it even though I wear it all the time and don't baby it at all.

I saw someone else who had spacers on the back of the band in case it ever has to be resized. Only two stores in Indy carry Ritani, but I'm trying to find out more info before I go to them to ask about that. I think I have decided on the Ritani from everyone's comments and the way it looks on my finger--thanks!!!

Ritani makes the ring to fit your stone. I didn't make any extra specifications on mine and it did come with a small spacer at the back, so I assume it is standard. I think they will do modifications if asked, though. I would also check out Pearlman's Jewelers. They come highly recommended on here, and that's where we got our diamond and setting. I think they had the best price at the time we were looking. http://www.pearlmansjewelers.com

I just got a quote about doing a custom pave head/prongs on their single shared prong ring. ETA: I personally would not feel comfortable having modifications on a Ritani ring unless Ritani was doing it. I found a Ritani ring I like at Robbins Bros which is $500 (? can't remember off hand) less than the same one at Pearlman's. Robbins Bros quoted me a few hundred dollars less for the custom work, but I do not feel confident in their craftsmanship to alter a Ritani ring. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ May you live all the days of your life. -Swift

The band is pretty heavy, but I like it that way, feels sturdy on my hand. The Ritani to me seemed too thin, too fragile looking. But it all boils down to what you prefer and what feels better on your finger. But great choices either way!
