Hi everyone!  Well, I think we're finally ready to make some decisions about a center stone.  Some of you may recall from my previous posts that we're having a ring custom made, but our wedding is only 2.5 weeks away, so it's a bit of a rush job.  In any event, we looked at two stones tonight that we were prettty happy with, but just wanted to check in here and see if you all had any thoughts or opinions before we proceed.  We're hoping to make a final decision by tomorrow so we can move forward on the setting, but it's a major purchase, so if folks here really think we should keep looking I don't want to rush into anything.  Our plan is to set the center (a RB of roughly one carat) in platinum with 2 pear sides.

Stone #1:  1.04 carat Round Brilliant diamond

     Grading Lab:  GIA
     Measurement:  6.49*6.52*3.99
     Cut:  Excellent
     Color:  G
Clarity:  strong SI1? Eye-clean. All inclusions are white, most on girdle.  2 small clouds in the center.
     Depth%:  61.3%
     Table%:  57%
     Crown Angle:  35 degrees
     Pavilion Angle:  40.6 degrees
     Symmetry:  Excellent
     Polish:  Excellent
     Girdle:  Medium (faceted)
     Culet:  None
     Fluorescence:  None
     HCA Score:  0.9
     Price: $5450

Stone #2:  1.01 carat Round Brilliant diamond

     Grading Lab:  GIA (laser inscribed)
     Measurement:  6.45*6.56*3.97
     Cut:  Excellent
     Color:  F
Clarity:  very strong SI1? Eye-clean. All inclusions are white, all on girdle except one *very* faint cloud in the center.
     Depth%:  61%
     Table%:  57%
     Crown Angle:  35 degrees
     Pavilion Angle:  40.8 degrees
     Symmetry:  Excellent
     Polish:  Excellent
     Girdle:  Thin to Medium (faceted)
     Culet:  None
     Fluorescence:  None
     HCA Score:  1.6
     Price: $5650

So what do you think?  For the small increase in price I'm definitely leaning toward option #2.  Although neither stone is branded, both show good hearts and arrows on the viewer and little to no apparent leakage on the idealscope.

Thanks!

That's a tough one. NOt having seen the IS I can't really tell which I would prefer. Going on color, I would like the F. But going on numbers alone (and looking for hairs to split) option #1 seems to have less divergence in the diameter measurement. Option #2's dia. range from 6.45 to 6.56 seems large? I don't really know if that is, as it's symmetry is still 'Excellent'.

So I'm not much help really but I think the IS would be the thing that makes my decision and the Sarin if you got one.

Unfortunately, I don't have Sarin reports, but the idealscopes on these looked roughly the same.

Is it safe to assume that the lack of comments on these means they both look great and people can't find much negative to say??  I'm hoping it's not the other way around!  Do the prices seem reasonable for what I've described?  thx

These both look promising, if you have seen the Idealscopes and other images and are happy, then choose which you like best - or as you say, shoot for the higher colour for a little extra if that is important to you.  I think these are good potential choices and you have obviously done your homework!

Nothing is more sacred as the bond between horse and rider...no other creature can ever become so emotionally close to a human as a horse. When a horse dies, the memory lives on because an enormous part of his owner's heart, soul, very existence dies also...but that can never be laid to rest, it is not meant to be...
