Hi everyone!

I need to start thinking of decorating the new house as is it really plain right now (FI is waiting for me to move in!).  The kitchen and office are done, but we need to do the family room, dining room and living room (which will become the pool/bar room...done in a very classy way!).  All the downstairs has mahogany wood floors.

Then upstairs we need major help!.  We have two guest rooms and our room.  We will get new furniture for the master and even have some space for a reading area.  One of the guestrooms is painted dark blue because I wanted to decorate it with all white accents....to give it a "beach spa" feel....which makes sense since we are in FL!.

I want to get ideas!!! I've seen some of your pictures and you guys have such great taste!!!

So I thought I would start this thread so you can all post pictures of your own houses (or someone else's...hehe), or links you love for inspiration, etc...

Thanks!

M~

Thanks jcrow!!!...I'll check those out.

Well, I pretty much have to do the entire house...lol.  I like the potterybarn look.  Nothing too modern or minimalistic.  Something that feels like a home, warm but with cool accents.

I'm going to check those links right now!

Thanks!

Mandarine, if you love the PB look, and want to really personalize a room (especially a bedroom), you could commission a quilter to make a quilt or wallhanging for you...you can choose your color pallette and pattern and go from there.  My mom's a quilter and has helped a few new brides (including me!) design their decor in certain rooms by creating a focal piece like a quilt that has sentimental meaning but can be used either functionally or aesthetically by using it as part of the bedding or hanging it on a wall.  A quilt does add a certain amount of "country" or casualness to a room, but if you use the right pattern it doesn't have to be "country" at all...quilts can be quite contemporary or modern as well.  It's possible to turn a mural into a quilt that becomes a priceless work of art, ya know?

I LOVE Pottery Barn, in fact I just re did our BR with new PB bedding, am still searching for the perfect piece to hang above the bed to become the focal point of the room.  So I know what you're going through, good luck!

I do like the quilt idea! Specially for one of the guestrooms!!!!.  Do you have any pictures or links?.  How about pictures of your new bedding? sounds awesome!.  I definitely like crafts so I would love to find things I can do myself.  I painted a couple of paintings and have one hangining on top of my bed, nothing crazy...it's just a simple painting with three chinese letters that mean Happiness...It's kind of cool.

I just want to have a "plan" and have an inspiration room before I start buying things for each room.  I will also use some of the things I already have at my house.  Although I don't want to replicate my home now, I want the new house to have a more "us" feel rather than just mine.

Keep the links, pictures and ideas coming!

My camera isn't working right now... but I live in a "college" house but I am very into interior design so I am constantly finding ways to make things pretty. One thing I LOOOVED was I found an old coffee table that was a pretty scratched. I painted it red (red is my main accent color in the living room. The old fashioned style updated in a bright color is really cool and I constantly get compliments on it.

Go to Hobby Lobby and you will have SO many inspirations!

http://www.pricescope.com/idealbb/view.asp?topicID=62877  That's the link to my thread containing pics of the new bedding, etc...if that doesn't work (I am never confident in my linky posting skills, lol) you can search "new PB bedding" and it should come up.

Sorry, I was going to attach the same pics to this thread but I seem to have deleted them from my laptop, oops!  Anywho, the quilt you see folded at the foot of the bed on the storage bench is the wedding quilt my mother made for DH and I...the pattern is called "bullseye,"  it has lots of reds and blacks in it and I thought the PB bedding tied in nicely with it.  It's just large enough to cover the king size bed but unfortunately it doesn't hang over at all, it's really a full size quilt I think.  My mom's a total "artiste," she doesn't follow people's specs and just does whatever she thinks will be the right size, lol!

I love the sites Jcrow posted, I just finished looking at them and wow!  Beautiful things and images, very inspiring.  May I ask when your house was built, mandarine?  I tend to try to take into consideration the architecture and style of the house we live in when decorating, ours was built in 1948 so it has some very 40's/50's details.  I try to balance sort of a retro feeling with some contemporary things mixed in to stay with the feel of the original architecture/style but also mix it up a bit with the accessories to add personality and interest.  Modern/minimalist just doesn't work in this house, although I love those clean lines and chic-ness.

Oooo...I think I may have just relearned how to post an image!!  A tad excited I are!!  Hope this works.  If it doesn't...I give up.

I really like the colors here.  I think a few of you are already using these colors in your bedroom.  The serenity is hard to pass up.

Cross your fingers...DKS

MSB...sorry I have no clue where I got it.  I too wish there were more.  I love the silk bed covering...and then the linen texture window treatment.  I would never have thought to do that...somehow it makes the silk look more lavish.

Glad you like it.
