I know of EGL USA, europe, India amd Israel.  Are there others as well?

I know EGL-USA has the best reputation out of them.  Are there some that you would avoid altogether or that are known as being "soft"

Thanks

There is also Antwerp, South Africa and Turkey if I remember rightly.  If you try a search on each EGL lab, then you will find various consumer and professional opinions regarding them which should help to guide you.

Nothing is more sacred as the bond between horse and rider...no other creature can ever become so emotionally close to a human as a horse. When a horse dies, the memory lives on because an enormous part of his owner's heart, soul, very existence dies also...but that can never be laid to rest, it is not meant to be...

They are ALL a bit soft, but EGL-USA is the only one I would even consider trusting. That's not to say that I wouldn't buy a stone from another EGL lab, but I would make the sale contingent on an independent appraisal first!

Many labs have reputation issues.  If EGL-USA were as bad as some others, we wouldn't even see it discussed here.  EGL-USA has shared a lot of good research with the trade over the past several years.  I'd trust them for colored diamond origin of color, hthp and related issues as well as any lab available here.  Since I don't need a lab report, I can buy a diamond regardless of the paper, but consumers primarily need paperwork AND a vendor they feel is trustworthy.  Consumers are not making hundreds of purchases.  They make one big one and it better be a good one.

Consumers can go on recommendations and word of mouth reputation from Pricescope.  Just buying impulsively leads to real problems that I just see way too often.  You can't just assume much of anything with lab reports.  They are supposed to be expert opinions of quality.   Some of the experts are not equal to others.  Some of the most highly rewarded "experts" have clearly sold out to the temptation to grade weakly.

This is why consumers need several things to come together all at once for their individual purchase that volume, expert buyers don't have to have.  Everything needed is here for those who get the message and take the time to do it right.
