Maybe I should be posting this in hangout... Some of you might remember some mentions I've made of a former "friend" of mine who was, actually, quite toxic. She got engaged to her longtime-bf of only half a year, withheld information about a STD from him, deduced that I was "only jealous" when I suggested she should probably fill him in... then, to top it all off, sent an email to me right after I got engaged saying she thought it was "hilarious" (among some other nasty things, original thread here). I just found out yesterday that she and her FI broke it off 2 months ago! Big surprise, I suppose I thought I would feel a little self-righteous in an "I told you so" way if this happened, but I find myself feeling sorry for her. She never dealt with breakups well, and something tells me this was probably a bad one.Anyway, we're not in contact anymore (haven't been since that email she sent in Feb.). I considered sending an email to tell her I'm sorry to hear about her breakup, but I doubt it would sound anything but mocking and condescending, and I don't want to become "that" person. Not sure if there's really a point to my post. But if you remember that girl from my earlier references, now you know what happened! |

You are a lovely person but I honestly think that you should leave her well alone. I know you feel sad for her but she may be nasty to you if you contact her now after all this time.

Heh, heh. That's what happens when you post in Bride's World. I thought STD meant save the date I agree with Maise, you are a lovely person. No need to bring back toxic people back into your life.

No need to bring back toxic people back into your life. When I was in highshool, my favorite band's initials were STD. I made a necklace with those initials and actually WORE it to school. Yeah....I wasn't the brightest of the bunch. Explains why I didn't have a boyfriend though! lol.

I agree...just let it go. I also had a toxic friend years ago...even tried to break off the friendship many times. Years later, I still wonder about her and have heard she would love to hear from me (yeah, right!), but I have realized how much better my life is without her in it to bring me down. Just wish her your best in your mind and heart, but take care of YOU, first and foremost. People like that will never change, so it is best for you to move on without her dragging you down. Just my 2 cents... Harleigh |
